Vegas baby! (Just had to get that out of our system). Ok, we’re almost positive you’ve all had a family member or friend say these exact words to you at one point in your wedding planning: “Why don’t you just get married in Vegas?”. You’ve also more than likely entertained the thought for a brief moment but never really thought about how or what it could be like. It always helps to hear it from someone that has already done it, right? No fret, that’s why we’re here. Or…that’s why Michelle + Jason are here – to tell you all about their sweet itty bitty elopement that meant the world to them and left their bank unbroken.
At first I was skeptical but the more we thought about it, the better the idea sounded.. . plus free wedding decor from the city! That place has almost every backdrop you could want! In a silly way, we went to Italy, NYC, Rome and more…all in Vegas! We stayed at one of the best hotels: Aria in the brand new City Center-which if you haven’t been has amazing architecture and flaunts one of the nations largest collections of modern art as well as James Beard award winning restaurants. Perfecto!
We found a cute little chapel down from the strip and declared our love with just the minister and our ‘found’ witnesses. Since we weren’t doing the big wedding thing but wanted to of course make it special, we decided on classic outfits with my dress having a little bling for Vegas. Jason wore patent leather converse, with a classic black and white suit, and I kept it classic with Calvin Klein shoes and a fun diamond heart necklace. I spent the morning in the spa and salon, had the hotel do my hair and makeup…which left us stress free.
We splurged on flying my photographer friend in for the day to capture our day. We found some lovely spots around the hotel (Bird Fountain Pics, Julian Schnabel painting, Stairway etc) then hit the city in a Limo to explore. Stopping wherever we wanted to take in the environment. The Belagio just happened to have their annual Flower Extravaganza with a ferris wheel and flowers galore. How lucky! To top the night off we went to the ‘Old’ part of the strip for The Freemont Experience. They had a live band and dj playing awesome music, a mix of hip hop and pop, hundreds of people, dancers and entertainers and a laser light show. In it’s own way, it was our reception! The two of us danced the night away and knew we had the perfect wedding just the two of us (and hundreds of strangers! haha!)
A Vegas wedding is sounding pretty sweet, isn’t it? Congrats to these two cuties!
