A rustic/country wedding might use a barn as their venue, whereas a 1920’s /Art Deco wedding, like that of Susie + Matt’s, has The Garden Pavillion, in Sonoma. Think The Great Gatsby meets The Secret Garden. Their wedding has got all the classy details – chandeliers, feathers, gold dinner plates, chic guests, and one dolled up cake, perfectly suited for a grandiose 1920’s soiree. And, who better to capture it all then Belathée Photography!
Jocelyn Dunn of Petit Bereau designed their invitations. The formal invitation was letterpressed while the rest of the suite was flat printed. Smart way to keep it classy but save money.
Sample sales, sample sales! You must go to them! That’s how Susie scored this Jenny Packham gem at Marina Morrison, in San Francisco. And, can you believe that bouquet? We wish that was sitting on our desk at this very moment.
Notice the Art Deco details in the venue’s architecture?
For their guestbook, Susie pulled new and vintage postcards together. She let guests pick the card of their choosing to write a little message, and compiled them into a book when the wedding had passed. (We also love the idea of hanging your favorite postcards on a clothesline in your work space!)
I wanted to have a DIY photobooth for my wedding but didn’t have the time to do it myself, so my dear friend Christa Hill volunteered. I discussed the concept of my wedding with her and gave her a couple of specifics I had in mind for setup and design. Christa took the idea and ran with it. Her design and setup blended in so well with our venue and theme that it became a key component to the event without dominating it. Her creativity, sophistication and professionalism completely exceeded my expectations.
Their cake + first dance song couldn’t have been more suiting! They danced to My Baby Just Cares for Me by Nina Simone. Listen to it here:
We love a themed wedding, especially when it’s executed so beautifully! Congrats Susie + Matt!
