Kris + Heike’s wedding blew us away. Both are designers, know what they want, understand their style is unique and how to work with design & decor elements that represent their spirit and aesthetic. You won’t hear us trying to label their wedding as a specific theme because they basically created an entirely new one that didn’t exist. The details that you can’t help but admire, are a true reflection of their work. Heike is a designer and Kris, aka Kronk, designs and illustrates toys with U.S based company Kid Robot, an art and design toy company that has artists create editions of amazing collectable toys of the coolest kind.
We’re always looking for that new design element that sets a wedding apart from all the others and makes it entirely unique to the couple, and that ‘Just Married’ sign is it! If we see more weddings using custom vinyl decals (should your venue allow it) to decorate with… oh the possibilities.
An all white table setting in an all white room, love it!
This detail is just bananas. That seafoam green striped dance floor they’re getting down on started out white, but the venue, Kleinevalleij, painted it according to how K + H requested. Yep, they’ll gladly paint the dance floor any color you’d like. If anyone finds a place that does that here in the States, let us know!
Kris designed a special wedding edition of his well known Lovebird vinyl toy and had all 400 of them shipped overseas just in time to hand out as favors.
Some advice from Heike for future brides-to-be:
Less is more. Where possible use your creative flair to help keep cost down. We called in a few favours to also help with costs, like trading art toys for button badges! Being designers, a lot of the overall design was self-generated. If you or a family member has useful skills, exploit them! Seek interesting wineries that may help you if you mention it’s for your wedding. We used Boer and Brit winery for our wines, not only were they cost effective and very cool, but offered us a little discount too when we mentioned the purchase was for the wedding. Lastly remember this is a one day event, cut out the frivolous stuff and maximize the important stuff, keep in the things that you and your guests will remember and leave out the embroidered napkins and chocolate fountains.
Congratulations Kris + Heike!
