We’re so stoked to finally be moving into the warmer months of the year. And after seeing this wedding we’ve definitely got travel and tropical weather on the mind, and think it’s perfect for rounding out the week with. Located just 30 minutes outside of Cancun, Mexico, Azul Beach Resort in Puerto Morelos matched Candice + Will’s desire to be at a small retreat-style hotel that accommodated the comforts & tastes of their family and friends coming from opposite coasts. There were less than 100 rooms, on the beach, and was the perfect escape to celebrate not just one day, but an entire weekend. Dreamy, right?
With guests spending thousands of dollars to join us on a Mexican getaway, I wanted the welcome and arrival from their long journeys to kick start the excitement for what was to come. Upon arrival at check in, along with welcome drinks, guests were given glow-in-the-dark pins. Their rooms were outfitted with welcome bags that highlighted personal messages about our past, present, and future along with “survival” items – like a Spanish phrase book!
Will and I met while we were working for Scratch DJ Academy – a school that teaches people of all ages, how to DJ. We worked on opposite coasts, me in LA and him in NY. After 6 years of seeing each other sporadically, and communicating via email (business only!), on a chance visit to LA, Will decided to make a move and ask me out. After over a year of flying back and forth between LA and NY, I decided to make the move the NY. Two days after I arrived, Will proposed to me on the Brooklyn Bridge.
Since they met over their love of DJing, they spray painted gold vinyl records and created custom “record labels” using printable CD labels. Each record had a personal song dedication for that guest – so when they heard the song, they knew it was for them.
