Christine has been obsessed with The Great Gatsby (the one with Robert Redford, obvs) ever since she saw the film in high school. She was the only one in the classroom who stayed awake through the whole film (making a room full of hormone charged teenagers watch an “old” film with no major climax…no bueno, but me, Robert Redford, and a vintage themed story full of romance, swoon!). So when her and Patrick decided on a date for the wedding, she instantly insisted on it being Gatsby themed. Then straight after that, came the dress. The Anna Sui dress from BHLDN was the only dress she tried on, and it fit like a glove straight out of the box. We must say, she looks killer in it too!
We work and live near a wonderful and magical place called Alys Beach. With its white Mediterranean inspired houses, large succulents growing at every corner, cobblestone walkways, oh and not to mention its convenient placing right on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico with powder white sands and emerald waters…it didn’t take much for us to decide to get married in a place that continues to amaze us everyday.
I decided to have all the wonderful women in my life send me a brooch that matched my color scheme, that way I could have a little something held close to me on that special day that they had sent with love. My mom then took cream satin rose petals and hand made my bouquet. And may I add, it weighed a ton!
Christine referenced Martha Stewart’s Paper Cherry Blossom DIY to create those garlands.
Christine used bottles wrapped in twine as her vases. This is such an easy project to do, and you can easily turn the most awkward bottle into something cute like hers with just some twine or yarn, and some glue!
This last shot is such a Gatsby-esque photo, isn’t it? Have a great weekend everyone!
