While traveling to California for a wedding, Krystle of Krystle Akin Photography thought she’d whip up a couple engagement shoots along the way. That’s how she ended up at one of Malibu’s iconic beaches to photograph Katie + Blaine. After getting engaged on the beach in Big Sur, this was just the relaxed, natural backdrop the couple was looking for. Learning that Krystle would be shooting in film sealed the deal. Katie says, Her photos are soft and sweet and she really captured special moments between my fiancé and I.
What a sweet shot.
Katie says it was super windy, not to mention she had to rethink the shoes she bought. All the better for pictures, we think!
Their engagement story: After a weekend camping trip in Big Sur, CA with friends this past February, Blaine and I had the day to ourselves before heading back to San Diego. I was dying to go to Post Ranch Inn for lunch, and we had some time before our reservation to explore the area. After a charming cup of coffee at Big Sur Bakery and a delicious mimosa at Ventana Inn, Blaine and I finally found the famous “purple sand” Pfeiffer Beach. Towards the end of our stroll Blaine handed me a sweet belated Valentine’s card that said “To the One I Love”. I opened the card and read the sweetest message, and when I looked up with tears in my eyes I was surprised to find him on one knee. After the initial shock, I said, “YES!”. We hopped back in the car with no appetite and skipped out on our lunch reservation. We traveled back to Carmel to find a beautiful surprise engagement party that my Mom had coordinated at the La Playa Carmel hotel with family. After almost seven years of dating we will be tying the knot next February.
Congrats, K + B!
