For their NY wedding, the bride and groom had a talented team of friends and loved ones to help in every way: with florals, coordination, a dress redesign, DIYs, (and more!) all by people they knew, everyone came together to create Michael and Francesca’s dream day. Teamwork makes the dream work, no?
As for a theme, Francesca says, We mixed rustic mountain elements with the antique and industrial beauty of the venue, and aimed to create a warm and inviting environment with winter white and green tones, metallic accents, and candlelight. A perfectly executed redesign of the bride’s mother’s 70s gown: The original Piccione dress had long sleeves, a boat neck, and an empire waist. We converted it to cap sleeves, a v-neck, and A-line waist repurposing the material and lace from the long sleeves. My mother redesigned her veil for me. The original veil was very long and had a large lace beaded headpiece. We shortened it to extend just beyond the dress, removed the headpiece, and attached the tulle to a hair comb.
Their altar was comprised of 20 vintage suitcases as a tribute to their love of travel and time going long distance between NYC & London.

For an intimate dinner party feel, they designed a candlelit dinner with three long tables adorned with collected antiques, birch from the bride’s parent’s Adirondack Mountain home, and romantic floral arrangements.
Right before dinner was served, we stood still together and watched everyone just seated to the tables. Drinks clinked, chatter and laughter rose over the music, candlelight flickered across the long tables. Everything that we planned with the help of many talented and generous family and friends had come together, and the most important people in our lives were in one room at the same time. It was an all encompassing, memorable moment.
The bride’s planning tips: 1) Be yourself. Try not to get caught up in what others or the industry says you should or shouldn’t do.. 2) Get backup. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Enlist the support of family and friends. 3) After the wedding, write down all the details that you and your partner can remember.
