Amy + Philipp met in business school, so when they got engaged they approached the whole thing “like any MBA would”, with research and efficiency. They booked Brooklyn Winery within a week – knowing how competitive NY is – found a dreamy dress, then let a whole slew of talented Brooklyn-based vendors run with their theme. Sounds like the way to do it!
Thanks to Brookelyn Photography for all the photos below!
The bride explains, We love the Jazz Age Lawn Party on Governors Island each summer, and got inspired by the paper moon photo booth they have. Between that and obsessive Downton Abbey viewing, the vintage art deco theme made perfect sense for us. Thankfully, our friends got into the idea and we went unabashedly theme-y. I think we pulled it off without being kitschy! Our other constraint was using (almost) all Brooklyn-based vendors and vendors with a commitment to sustainability and ethical business practices.
So cool. Find more inspo on her Pinterest board.
She found Jenny Packham’s Joy, a gown with silk and tulle fabric, gold details, and crystal beading, at a trunk show almost instantly… Lucky gal!
Amy’s all-white bouquet recipe by Glitter + Rye: garden roses, Queen Anne’s lace, ferns, hypericum berry, calla lily, veronica, hydrangea
Three things totally made the venue for them: 1) it’s beautiful 2) an amazing staff, and 3) delicious, family-style dining.
Love the unique birdcage details.
With so many out of town guests – neither Amy nor Philipp are from NY – they made a whole weekend of it with the Brooklyn Bowl, Brooklyn Brewery, a McCarren Hotel pool day, and rehearsal dinner + brunch. And of course, the after party. Fun!
Congrats you guys!
