You may recall the incredible turquoise paper flowers that artist + designer Hayley Sheldon whipped up for a bridal fashion editorial we featured back in April. Once we came across her pretty holiday wreaths the other day, we had to add a little somethin’ to the blog calendar ASAP. With holiday planning mode in full swing, you understand the urgency, yes?
After chatting with Hayley, it was obvious a little collab was in order! Check out her wreaths and see what she created just for 100 Layer Cake below. (Spoiler alert: There’s a giveaway involved!)
About her work, c/o Hayley…
For these wreaths, I was inspired by how changes in colors and textures can speak to different holiday decorating styles. One wreath, that I call Merry and Bright, channels a 1950’s “White Christmas” look, while another “Sugar Plum,” was inspired by the gorgeous jewel-toned costumes of the Nutcracker ballet. Lastly, the beauty of winter white is undeniable, and the “Winter Frost” wreath pays homage to a delicate snow fall but with lots of metallic, because hey, it’s the holidays! Love!
We’re fans of the Sugar Plum wreath, with holly sprigs and berry tones.
We were inspired by the rich tones and splashes of gold we’ve seen all season, but wanted to design something that would stay relevant and beyond the holidays. (Because hello, who wouldn’t want to display this all year?!) Hayley totally saw our vision and even used many of the color stories we’ve featured on the site lately as inspo for her design and crafting. Gorgeous, yes?
Hayley says, This collaboration was based on some of the beautiful color palettes recently featured on 100LC. I was looking for a balance between rich, bold reds and pinks and the more delicate petal shapes of the flowers themselves. Something both vibrant and feminine. To infuse a bit of shine I applied copper leaf to buds and leaves here and there. We think it works great as a winter wreath, but it can definitely transition into a special piece for all seasons.
Hayley will soon be listing this design in her Etsy shop, but until then, she’s offering the 100 Layer Cake wreath to one lucky reader! Enter to win below…
The winner will be chosen on Friday! Good luck, and don’t forget to check out her shop.
