Sometimes an event design lacks color and you really miss it, and then there’s this. Julia of Luminous Lines Creative (who not only conceptualized the shoot but whipped up everything from the paper goods to signage and more) added color with only a few earthy details in this black and white scene at The Loft on Pine in Long Beach, CA. Upholding every sense of the idea that opposites attract, she combined a spread of opposites right down to the modern tableware and the rustic decor beside it.

Julia says, As a creative, I am always torn between clean lines with bold elements, and soft spoken neutrals with organic strokes. Just like great relationships and famous love stories, I wanted to see these opposite concepts come together to create an unexpected romance.
We spy a little DIY inspo against that window…
They incorporated a little gold, natural elements, and calligraphy to soften the look a bit… Bold shapes combined with brush strokes, calligraphy and brush lettering accompanied with softer elements such as tea stained silk ribbon and vellum envelopes, helped tie everything together.
And we thought we’d seen it all in last week’s Easter desserts by Sweet & Saucy Shop. Now, a calligraphed cake? They’re killin’ it.
