When Susan of Love Hunters + Haley of Haley Austin Photography went to a Creative Mornings talk at the new Copper & Kings distillery + event space in Louisville, Kentucky, they instantly sensed a collab coming on in within the venue. Creatives just know these things, alright? Being a distillery, a cocktail theme was in order (recipe below!) and the warm, modern colors begged for a cozy, slightly retro vibe.
Loving the contrasting textures here.
Haley says, We dressed our bride in a fashionable twopiece Lakum gown and paired it with an all white suit for our groom. Their attire allowed them to make a modern, high fashion statement, and blended in well with the other bold elements of the shoot. As the sunset cast a silhouette of the cityscape onto the building and disappeared on the horizon, our bride and groom relished in their love for one another and the city where it all started.
And here’s what you’d need to indulge in this fall cocktail on your own:
Copper Crown Are Still Crowns (Old Fashioned)
∙ 2oz Copper & Kings Craft Distilled Brandy
∙ .25oz Woodford Reserve Bourbon Vanilla Simple Syrup
∙ 2 dashes Woodford Reserve Spiced Cherry Bitters
∙ Woodford Reserve Bourbon Cherry
∙ Grapefruit Peel
This modern venue is like no other in the city and is tucked in an up and coming part of town. Its exposed brick, art gallery, balcony with a view of the downtown skyline, and retro elements, such as an Emerson 911 radio + an original iMac dispersed throughout quickly became our inspiration for our couple’s wedding… Copper & Kings is filled with black and rich orange, a bold combination that can often be hard not to be distinguished as “Halloween colors”. Besides making sure to positively play off of the venue’s unique color palette and retro vibe, we particularly wanted to strive to keep the elements of the shoot modern and stylish, yet simple and season-less.
