How fun is this invitation suite? It’s the perfect representation of Anne + Andrew’s bohemian color scheme: blush with mauve, dusty purple, pale pink, creams, and green injected in small doses throughout. And hot pink + gold as accents. Basically, a bohemian meets Palm Springs meets super fun party color palette. Total fit with Max Wanger photo style too guys, as you’ll see…
Anne’s bouquet recipe: Juliet, Amnesia, & Quicksand roses, Café Au Lait, ranunculus, poppies, hellebores, clematis, scabiosa, Jasmine vine, eucalyptus, tied with Silk & Willow ribbon
Anne says, We both wanted our guests to feel relaxed, like we were just hosting a dinner at our gorgeous desert estate. So starting there, we developed a look that we jokingly called “Boho Downton Abbey,” meaning that we didn’t want to go full bohemian style, as that’s not really us, but wanted touches of it mixed with classic and romantic accents like crystal coupe glasses, velvet couches, and candlelight. The deeper we got into the planning process the more we drew on this “Downton in the Desert” idea and it really helped me to come up with ideas that tied the look all together.
Standing under an olive tree (the Parker’s alter) holding hands while birds chirped and bunny rabbits hopped around the croquet lawn was a surreal and memorable fairy tale-like moment. We spent a lot of time writing our ceremony and vows but we both kind of zoned out and just smiled at each other, taking it all in. Another favorite memory of the night was sneaking into the reception area and getting a glimpse of the setup before the guests started to enter. Seeing everything come to life just as I envisioned it was a great feeling. It was a fairly simple setting but we definitely brought the pretty and that made it magical.
Happy Menocal was behind the invites, seating cards, and menus, btw.On planning…
Even though I had a good idea of what I wanted the design to look like for the most part, Jamie of Sitting in a Tree was so helpful in tying everything together, confirming the vendors and ironing out the details. She took the extra time to do things like help me pick out rental pieces in person and attend two floral mock-ups and I really trusted her taste and opinions. I also appreciated her patience for all the times I changed my mind or couldn’t decide on something. If you want to be really involved in the planning like I did, I’d still highly recommend hiring someone at least a few months out to help you stay on track and organized.
Cheers!
