Wait till you hear all of Sarah + Ben’s wedding stories. They’re a laid back, music loving couple—their ceremony even resembled a festival out in the grass—who planned a colorful (her style) meets west coast prep (his style) day with 200 guests. Tons of fun of course. Did we mention that their 11-year old flower girl decorated their cake? Thanks to Sarah Jayne Photography for sending these shots our way!
The bridal bouquet by Sweet Annie Floral Design had dahlia, peony, ranunculus, and fresh herbs—she even caught her niece munching on a piece of sage!
Alexis of The Little Things says, Though we spent many, many months curating the perfect details, selecting the very best vendor team, and working to ensure their day went off without a hitch, for me, the most special part of the day was the only thing that I played no part in: their vows. The couple wrote their own vows, and the groom’s in particular were so incredibly emotional, there was not a single dry eye in the crowd… The bride followed by very gracefully mentioning something like “no pressure” when she began her own super sweet vows, the crowd erupted in laughter, and it was the most perfect five minutes of a ceremony I’ve witnessed to date.
The bride’s biggest tip? If you’re having an outdoor wedding, plan for rain and shine and then stop stressing! They lucked out with a beautiful day, but it took a ton of stress off knowing everything would’ve gone just as well had it rained too. Smart!
A few highlights from Andy Davis Creative…
Naturally we wanted to hear about their fave moments…
Sarah: While Ben and I both worked with Alexis to put this dream day together. Ben was more involved in the planning. Ben is a details and vision guy who can make decisions easily, I am not. Alexis presented incredible mood boards and design elements to the both of us. To me, they all looked pretty so it was difficult to make decisions so I always deferred to Ben! Accordingly, I never imagined what it all would look like when it all came together! So, my favorite moment was after our first look, Ben and I walked over to the tent to see what it looked like. I was truly stunned and blown away by how beautiful the tables looked. It was totally and completely my dream wedding—Alexis and Ben nailed it! I looked at Ben and said, verbatim, “Holy shit, Ben. We are having like a REAL wedding!” to which Ben replied, “DUH! What do you think Alexis and I have been doing all this time!”
Ben: The First Look… I was waiting for Sarah outside my back towards the direction she was coming. I was nervous and excited, and very emotional! All of a sudden, I heard the barn doors open and my heart began to race. Then, in classic Sarah fashion, I hear my beautiful bride to be slip and nearly trip down three small stone stairs on her way to me. She started laughing immediately, which put me at ease and made the whole experience that much better. Seeing Sarah for the first time that day was a moment I will never forget. As I said in my vows, she is beautiful every day and in every way… but that day, wow! She was like, out of a dream.
All the best!
