When you love black + white films, getting all dolled up, and vintage glamour, what’s better than an Old Hollywood wedding? How about one among all that PNW green in Portland? Devan (designer + owner of Nimbi Creative) + Joe love nature. And all the glitz ‘n glam too. A romantic garden ceremony + a historic downtown reception for their Portland wedding = the best of both. Thanks to Bridal Bliss + Hazelwood Photography for sharing!
These invites perfectly set the stage for an Old Hollywood wedding theme, don’t you think?
Gah, too pretty.
Devan asked Alli of Bramble Floral for a natural, wild bouquet with white, green, and subtle light pink. She also created the arch, and Devan created the rest of the wedding flowers with crepe paper!
The crazy impressive DIY list…
Devan says, I designed the invitations, paper flower bouquets, centerpieces, table numbers, seating charts, cigar box and matchbox covers, programs, menus, the boutonnieres were handmade with feathers, twigs and ribbon, the bridesmaids jewelry and t-shirts (worn during prep in the hotel), candy bar, the limoncello bottles with wax sealed tops and tags with “m” on them, the guest book and feathered pens, gold tipped feathers, cake topper, some small details on a couple bridesmaid dresses, and my daughter (flower girl’s) dress… We even customized the menu completely with the Chef at Food In Bloom. Since Joe used to be a Chef, he had a huge passion for making the meal options perfect. The chalkboard signs were “visually designed” and direction given, by me, but incredibly hand drawn and created by my super talented assistant Brittany Hampton, now owner of her own shop Letters & Dust.

And we have to share a few cute stories…
We had a random person outside the wedding yell, “Don’t do it!” which made us all laugh! And totally helped break the ice at the very beginning. My best friend, MOH, and cake baker opened an umbrella for me because it started raining, which went inside-out, and also made us all laugh. My husband’s vows were perfect; they were totally him, and it made me feel so lucky. I loved walking back down the aisle as Ms. McCabe with our daughter in her daddy’s arms. Riding in our old Ford on the way to the reception, taking a photo in front of the place it all started in Downtown Portland…. It was all so memorable.
Such a gorgeous Portland wedding!
