We all could use a few more sunny, bohemian-inspired get togethers in our lives, right? So relaxing! Sunset magazine and hosts Heather + Blake of TOMS, Shiva Rose, and Heather Taylor recently threw an intimate afternoon gathering to celebrate Camp Sunset, and of course One Gun Ranch in Malibu was the perfect locale. The book is a modern camper’s guide to the great outdoors, so naturally their launch party had to be all about those modern glamping vibes. Thanks to our good friend Sarah Sherman Samuel for sharing the photos from the event!

Camping tip #1, c/o Camp Sunset co-editor Elaine Johnson, Set a beautiful table. Want to make even the simplest camp meal feel three-star? Set the table with a stylish tablecloth, plates, and cutlery (unbreakable enamelware, or fancier stuff if you can pack it carefully).
Tip #2: It’s all about the ingredients. Good olive oil, cheese and produce—and okay, maybe some flower petals for fun—are key to easy and delicious camp fare.

Valerie Confections was there to take camp treats to the next level. Elaine says, Mix up your s’mores. Why stick with tried-and-true grahams and milk chocolate? Sandwich those golden marshmallows between dark chocolate cookies warmed in the sun, and make it a DIY station with ingredients set out in enamelware trays.
And last but not least, a practical tip… Never leave food out in your campsite, then walk away “for just a minute,” thinking that raccoons, pesky bluejays… or other critters won’t get it.
