Whitney + Tanner met at college in Santa Barbara, so when on the venue hunt back in Denver, they knew they had to bring their California boho style to whatever space they found. From the moment they saw the historic Grant-Humphries Mansion, they knew they’d be able to channel California and Colorado for their 200 guests. Think nature, greenery, peonies, and boho glam. Pretty good muse, right? Thanks to our gal Paige Jones, who just so happens to be T’s sister, and Banks + Leaf for sharing!
BTW, isn’t Whitney’s reverse flower crown so lovely? She took a halo from BHLDN and Statice Floral added flowers to the back of it. Totally perfect if you want flowers in your hair without going full-flower crown. And can we talk about this Lazaro gown from The Bridal Collection? Swoon.
Whitney tells it, We pretty quickly realized a wedding planner would be a wise decision…and Gabby of Banks + Leaf, our planner, made a huge difference in communicating our ideas to the vendors! We also managed to combine our extremely creative community of friends with the best vendors in Denver to create a really unique event. For example, one of my bridesmaids does calligraphy professionally, and she connected us with an amazing macramé artist for our seating chart. Plus, having Paige Jones as my new sister-in-law and photographer was about as amazing as it gets.
Boho brides, are you ready to see all the amaze details these two packed into the reception? Here we go…
Like Whitney mentioned, the seating chart featured lettering by Oak + Pen and a macrame design by Rachel Oliver.
The best part of the night was when they first presented us as a couple, walking on to the patio area for dinner. Seeing all of our friends and family, most of whom travelled in to be there, sitting under the floral lanterns we envisioned months ago, with our neon sign in the background—it was just unmitigated joy for me. We really felt that our wedding was not just about us: it was about celebrating the people who supported us and raised us, who would see us into our future. It was really important to us that the event communicated hospitality and thankfulness from us.
W + T had both spent a lot of time in the Middle East, so they also included subtle hints of their travels in the decor throughout. The rugs were one of the first things they started collecting when planning. Whitney also custom-ordered the big neon sign so they could reuse it in their home after the wedding.
The groom’s fave moments… One of my favorite parts of the wedding—besides seeing my beautiful bride walk down the aisle!—was being able to share our big day with everyone who has loved us and got us to the place where we were able to love each other. It was so amazing to be able to share all the finer details of food, decorating, and planning with all of our wonderful friends and family and bless them in that way.
