When pink is your signature color like fashion blogger McKenna Bleu, it’s bound to find its way into your wedding palette. But this isn’t your typical blush and white wedding. The couple and team at The Graceful Host were determined to make it completely representative of her bold, stylish aesthetic. The result was a wedding at new North Carolina venue Board & Batten that played up color, mixed in texture, and stood out from your typical southern wedding. The bride wore these gorgy blush bow heels for the ceremony. And that RING. Gah!
Rather than traditional bridal getting-ready robes, McKenna was adorned in pink while her bridesmaids wore different white dresses from Cami NYC.
Our wedding style was a true representation of my personal style, why blend in when you were born to stand out! When I met my husband I had a hot pink couch, so I always say “he knew what he was getting into” from the start! Luckily, he loves my passion for color and design and let me have free rein to use as much pink as I wanted for our wedding day. I wanted to keep the romantic feel by incorporating lots of soft feminine floral details. We mixed in several shades of pink, lots of texture and a bohemian flare to the design as well. Creating a look and feel that’s both eccentric yet timeless in today’s modern world.

McKenna’s bouquet featured pink dyed baby’s breath, pampas grass, lush peonies, roses and ranunculus with a hand dyed ombré ribbon.
Pretty venue alert!
Her cousin designed this custom pink veil to pair with her romantic tulle lace gown from BHLDN. The shade is Syrah and had a very subtle blush tone to it.
You know your planners are good when they can transform that ceremony into THIS reception in just 30 minutes! They flipped the space while guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the terrace, making the ceremony backdrop the bar backdrop, transforming the band’s space, and styling all the tables.
These two were actually one of the first weddings to take place at their North Carolina wedding venue… The second we walked into Board & Batten there was no question that this would be the place we wanted to getting married. From the moment we met the Board & Batten team we felt like family, hospitality is at their heartbeat. Board & Batten blends rustic charm with modern-day sophistication. They only host one event a day so it’s an all-inclusive space that was designed and built with events in mind. Hands down THE best wedding venue in North Carolina, no question!
Prettiest cake, too! See more photos from Russ + McKenna’s wedding in our gallery:
Cheers to R + M!
