Karen Mordechai, the styling and photography beauty behind Sunday Suppers recently celebrated her daughter Sophia’s first birthday. Before the cake made itself into Sophia’s bitty hands, mouth…and dress, Karen snapped a few photographs of the soft blossom pink table design, buffet set-up, and decor. Karen thinks she may have gone a little overboard. We say, you only turn one once!

Sweet fabric invitations with pink felt dots enclosed in a kraft mailer box were designed by SIMPLESONG.

It’s not a party until you get some rock-star vendors involved! The food table, adorned with handwritten signs on fabric and paper were by Mara at Neither Snow. The short and sweet custom burlap sign was from funky shiQue on Etsy, and the floral garland by Ashley Meaders.

Inspiration is everywhere. It can even be found in a special girls first birthday party! Happy Birthday Sophia!

A big hearty congrats to Karen Mordechai of Sunday Suppers on the new blog design! She worked with Amanda (who, in addition to 100 Layer Cake, is also a partner of Hi Design) on the new design, while Erica of Thoughtful Day created the super sweet logo. Gorgeous event inspiration and delectable menu ideas…go on over for a delicious look!

We thought we’d start the week off with something simple and pretty. And delicious. Because who in their right mind doesn’t love a good cheese spread?

Sunday Suppers put together this yummy, beautiful spread. Wouldn’t it be a nice addition to a wedding reception or any sort of party one might throw? We’re saving it in our hostessing files for sure.

Hi hi. Here’s the tutorial Jillian put together for the cupcake liner garland she did for Sunday Suppers. You can also see the project on Project Wedding’s blog, One Lovely Day, this week…

Dressing up a holiday celebration, (or wedding, of course) is always a nice touch. For a recent Harvest Dinner we decided to resurrect those adorable coffee filter garlands that have been so popular around the web and update them with some pretty fabric accents.

This project is super easy to make and adds such a pretty feeling to your celebration. Two 36″ strands require 4 – 5 packs of baking cups, depending on how loose or tight you want your garlands to be.

Tools & Materials:

Vintage fabric (or any sort of course) found on Etsy, and Tulle.

Craft & white cupcake liners. The white liners were tea dyed to soften the color a bit.

Heavy duty threading needle

Twine

Ribbon

Glue gun

How to:

If you’re going to tea dye your liners you’ll need to do that first and let them dry completely.

While they’re drying, cut your fabric and tulle into rounds using a cupcake liner as a guide. Lay out all of your liners and fabric rounds so you can arrange them in a stack in the order you like. The rest is pretty straightforward. Take a small stack and just thread your needle through the center of each piece.

Once you’ve got about 1/3 of your liners strung, space them out a bit so they’re as loose or tight as you want your garland to be. Then use your glue gun to attach some of the liners to the thread. This way you can control the spacing of your liners on the garland. You’ll need to let the glue dry before you continue, but luckily hot glue dries super fast. Then repeat the process until your garland is full. Finally, finish off each end of the garland with little bits of ribbon or lace.
