On Valentines Day Scott and Jillian were notified that friends of friends were having a secret wedding in Central Park but had no photographer. Although it was Valentines Day and all they wanted to do was be together they also thought this would be such an important moment that deserved documentation. And what better way to spend the day than to witness love first hand.

The couple would like their names to remain anonymous so they’ll be going by Lady J and Mister E.

With Central Park blanketed in snow and the sun shining it was the perfect weather for their celebration. For the ceremony they picked a spot that overlooked the Lake under Bow Bridge. There seemed to be a few other celebrations happening in the park yesterday. Go figure!

Lady J is super into vespas and the color red so Sarah of Blossom & Branch created a boutonnière and bouquet that reflected their unique sense of style.

Mister E also fixes up Vespas and is quite crafty. He made these wooden rings in honor of their day. We love that if you’re in love there’s no reason to wait for the “perfect” ring. This was such a thoughtful gesture.

Lady J and Mister E thank you so much for being such a lovely and generous couple who radiated such love. We wish you all the best.

Did anyone else witness a wedding over the weekend or have a surprise proposal?

  21. Are there any photos showing the bustiere of her dress more clearly? It looks like it has some lovely pleating but is covered by her glamorous cardigan!

  22. This made me kind of teary. Especially the rings.

  23. The boots really did it for me! Although, it’s so refreshing to see a couple who aren’t all caught up in the bling. The rings are a wonderful reminder of what’s really important and special about weddings. My hat’s off to ya!

  24. Thank you for all the lovely and generous comments!!!!
(Mister E’s boosted confidence from the reaction to his wooden rings has made him reconsider his day job. I tell him to work out the kinks with splinters…..and maybe we can “talk” :)
And quadruple thanks to Scott & Jillian and Sarah from Blossom & Branch for making the details come alive! I wish you could see all the pictures from the day– gorgeous! Scott, you rock.

To answer a question regarding the red umbrellas:
“Rain or Shine” a Harlem business located at 531 Lenox Ave (immediately off the 135th Street Exit on the 2/3 Subway), is the place for umbrellas! True romantics, owners Karen and Wahid, met while she rode her bike past his original umbrella stand 20+ years ago. 7 kids later, they still run the shop and are very passionate about each other and umbrellas. They actually refused payment when they heard it was for our wedding day.
Go say hello! (And to make the trip doubly worth your time, go next door to Jimbo’s for savory grits. Delish.) xoxo Lady J

  25. My oh my! What a darling couple and a perfect setting for their secret wedding. Congrats to them!

  26. I, personally, think that this is the wedding of the decade. Yes, I know that the decade has only started BUT…you can’t copy it. It is too original. It is all about two people in love. It is absolute gorgeous. No over the top over-priced bling bling show me the money extravaganza could even come close the the beauty of this wedding. Ever! I love this couple. I don’t know them but I love them. I wish them eternal bliss.

  27. Absolutely splendid! What a lovely, intimate wedding! I couldn’t believe it; not only is that the same wedding dress as me, but my fiance also carved my engagement ring. Really sincerely, thanks for sharing!

  28. Lovely unconventional wedding! I would have loved to shoot that wedding for free. Please holla (theonlyclickmama@gmail.com) if anyone needs free wedding photography! I am a creative up and coming and opportunities like that help me build a portfolio! Thanks

  29. Yay! I had a surprise wedding this weekend! They rock! As do wooden wedding rings.

  30. Amazing wedding theme……..Both are looking very cute
