Hi friends! Back again today with some more engagement session inspiration: today we have ideas for elements you can use in your engagement shoot as well as lovely outfits!  So I definitely have put some thought into what I want to wear for our engagement shoot. Here are some outfit ideas I came up with in the process of searching for the perfect outfit.

{sweater & tank: Forever 21 skirt: Lulus shoes: Ruche belt: Urban Outfitters knecklace: Martin + Osa}

High waist skirts definitely seem to be in. I am definitely a vintage crochet/lace girl. I love the detail on the shoulders of this button up cardigan and the small lace detail on the tank.  Accent with a thin belt, sweet necklace, and just the right shoes and you’re set!

{blouse: Anthro skirt:Urban Outfitters belt: Modcloth shoes: Shopbop necklace: fossol hair pin: Anthro}

I am also a romantic girl, this outfit reminds me of that. We have a subtle detail top with a bold flower necklace, paired with a navy skirt and beautiful beaded flats. Accented with a braided belt and floral hair pin.

{coat: Modcloth dress: Sublet Clothing necklace: Anthro tights: Urban outfitters shoes: Seychelles}

This last outfit contains my favorite colors. A simple dark gray dress with a deep gold yellow coat to match. I love anything with cut out detail and these aquamarine heels are really fabulous. Beaded cream necklace and lace tights are a final accent to this set.

Now for some prop inspiration for your engagement shoot.

Scene: Setting up a small ’scene’ in a large field is a charming idea. Incorporate a screen panel and furniture like chairs. I’ve seen a shoot with an old piano which was really neat!
Balloons: Balloons often appear in many engagement photos so go beyond the normal use! Love this creative line of balloons.
Hanging: This couple hung vintage map papers held with clothespins. Think of something that represents you as a couple and if it can be hung, hang it!
Playground: Make use of props that are already available to you, an old playground, the beach.

Picnic: Going back to setting up a scene, a picnic is such a sweet idea.
Chalkboard: Cute clever idea, this couple used chalkboards and changed the words for different shots.
Letters: I think letters would be a really neat element for photos. If you can find a location with big letters as your background, that might be neat. (Also love this photo using letters from Yvonne Wong.)
Bunting: Who doesn’t love bunting? I can never get tired of these triangles!

I’ll be back tomorrow with a fun wedding idea. xo Danni!

  3. *swoooon* I love so many details that danni has listed here. My faves are ALL the necklaces, especially b/c many are Anthro ones. The yellow and grey outfit is so super cute and romantic. The balloon, map and triangle hung on up on a rope is a GREAT idea for a fun backdrop. And the one thing I am really wanting is that beautiful flower hair clip!! Thanks for sharing!

  10. this is a completely wonderful post. beautifully executed and inspiring.

  11. I think the biggest thing for engagment sessions is to stay true to yourselves as a couple! Don’t just pick a theme at random, but use locations, props, or styles that really mean something to you – and it looks like you’re definitely doing that Danni! Beautiful outfit choices… I LOVE the third option!

  12. I LOVE that Sublet Clothing dress!

  13. Hello spring lookbook! Gracias ;)

  14. Great roundup of goodies! I actually bought the Modcloth belt a few weeks ago!

  15. thank you so so much for the engagement pic help….i have been debating what to wear (so hard)….and where to go…what props to use (i don’t love when people do “too much”)..so thank you for helping with some ideas!!
    as a sidenote I am doing a little give away on my blog for some cute little citron colored fingerless gloves (w zippers)…if anyone has a lovely cupcake recipe…stop on by and check it out. i am baking my own cupcakes for my wedding and trying to decide on flavors… thanks for any inspiration you can offer : )

  16. Those balloons are actually targets — Istanbul vendors string them along the water and then charge people to shoot at them with a bb gun. I always found the contrast of the bright colors against the blue of the Bosporus lovely.

  17. This is adorable!
