I’ve been thinking a lot about the theme of my wedding and the style I want to portray. I am such a big fan of Jane Austen: I love her stories, the era, the style, everything! I asked my fiancee if he’d be willing to wear one of the old regency tailcoats…he said not so much. But whether you are a Jane Austen fan or not, it most certainly makes for lovely inspiration.

First we start with the fabulous Jane Austen inspired dresses. I love the simplicity of these dresses, the tiny details and how they flow.

Beautiful laces and trims and fabrics seen in these original and replica regency dresses from the BBC costume set. I’m pretty sure my wedding will include all things lace: love this lace necklace and lace umbrella. Wouldn’t it be fun in a photoshoot? Top it off with a simple floral headpiece and I’m set!

An old ballroom from the Bath Assembly Room, England. Beautiful chandeliers and ceilings. I will probably have my reception outdoors but I do love this room. I’ve seen old books being used as decor in many weddings, I love collecting old books. This home was actually owned by the brother of Jane Austen. If I could find an old house with a lovely open field, I’d have the wedding of my dreams.

Love these dried flowers as decor. Especially love the one long table idea and definitely plan to have this at my reception. Calligraphy addressed envelopes are so fabulous and depending on where you live, I’ve seen many calligraphy classes offered so if you have the time, you could learn yourself!

Hi friends! Back again today with some more engagement session inspiration: today we have ideas for elements you can use in your engagement shoot as well as lovely outfits! So I definitely have put some thought into what I want to wear for our engagement shoot. Here are some outfit ideas I came up with in the process of searching for the perfect outfit.
{sweater & tank: Forever 21 skirt: Lulus shoes: Ruche belt: Urban Outfitters knecklace: Martin + Osa}
High waist skirts definitely seem to be in. I am definitely a vintage crochet/lace girl. I love the detail on the shoulders of this button up cardigan and the small lace detail on the tank. Accent with a thin belt, sweet necklace, and just the right shoes and you’re set!

I am also a romantic girl, this outfit reminds me of that. We have a subtle detail top with a bold flower necklace, paired with a navy skirt and beautiful beaded flats. Accented with a braided belt and floral hair pin.

This last outfit contains my favorite colors. A simple dark gray dress with a deep gold yellow coat to match. I love anything with cut out detail and these aquamarine heels are really fabulous. Beaded cream necklace and lace tights are a final accent to this set.
Now for some prop inspiration for your engagement shoot.

Scene: Setting up a small ’scene’ in a large field is a charming idea. Incorporate a screen panel and furniture like chairs. I’ve seen a shoot with an old piano which was really neat!
Balloons: Balloons often appear in many engagement photos so go beyond the normal use! Love this creative line of balloons.
Hanging: This couple hung vintage map papers held with clothespins. Think of something that represents you as a couple and if it can be hung, hang it!
Playground: Make use of props that are already available to you, an old playground, the beach.

Picnic: Going back to setting up a scene, a picnic is such a sweet idea.
Chalkboard: Cute clever idea, this couple used chalkboards and changed the words for different shots.
Letters: I think letters would be a really neat element for photos. If you can find a location with big letters as your background, that might be neat. (Also love this photo using letters from Yvonne Wong.)
Bunting: Who doesn’t love bunting? I can never get tired of these triangles!

My fiancee and I are taking wedding planning one day at a time. I’m really excited about our engagement pictures and definitely want to get that done first. When I started looking for inspiration, it was not hard to quickly find lots of amazing shoots and creative ideas. So here’s what I found: Follow me along as I search for inspiration for my engagement shoot. And maybe you can gather ideas/inspiration if you’re planning an engagement or anniversary session yourself!

LOCATION
First, choose a location. I noticed lots of open fields have become very popular, or perhaps just a place with lots of negative space that the photographer can use to capture in your images.

In the first image by Alysse Gafkjen, this couple braved it through the weather and snow and they ended up with beautiful images. Consider the weather and using it to your advantage. Or you can pick an actual storefront which makes for great images as shown here in Brandon Kidd’s candy store shoot and Max Wagner’s carnival shoot!

Lastly for location, I think this photo by Tim Melideo at the beach in vintage bathing suits is too cute! Love the train tracks and vintage outfits they chose in the next photo by Clayton.

THEME
According to a wedding site I was at recently, engagement themes are a 2010 trend. I think if you can pull it off: awesome!

Happy Thursday everyone! We’re soooo excited today because our dearest Kristina had a baby boy yesterday, 7lbs 9oz. Mama and baby are happy and healthy.
