Let’s just start by saying that Eunice is Hello!Lucky’s Creative Director. Mmmkay… obviously her wedding is stunning. And featured in the spring 2010 Martha Stewart Weddings. And somehow we are lucky enough to be able to post it here too. It really is just delicious. Eunice of course went crazy with the wedding crafting - including the invites, dress, stage (STAGE!) and loads of handmade details. She had tons of help from her sister/maid of honor/Hello!Lucky co-founder Sabrina and a bunch of super talented friends, especially Because We Can, who built the stage and all sorts of fun props.

Now we start:

Her dress was made by Iain Harris Barlett, a friend who also runs their London office. Amazing, no? There are a few more shots further down. It’s pretty much epic. Oh and the venue is Wilbur Hot Springs in Northern California. Very magical!

Her headpiece is Jennifer Behr, and available online here.

Colors are so lovely. As is the Tim Walker inspired parade leading to the ceremony. Because We Can made the shadow puppets, and Eunice and crew hand painted and edged each in gold.

Um stage? Amazing. Again made by Because We Can.

We have such a good way to start the week, this lovely Monday morn. A few weeks ago Amanda and Kristina (hugely pregnant) and Danielle of Brown Paper Design headed up to Santa Barbara to meet Mr. Jose Villa at the Figueroa Mountain Farmhouse for our winter tablescape project. Let’s start by saying that the farmhouse is pretty darn amazing. And remote. You really really feel like you’re the only people out in those beautiful California hills. Second, OMG Jose Villa. He’s the nicest guy ever. We are so lucky that he loves shooting pretty things. And Danielle. We love Danielle.

Now, let’s start. We have some cute idee-ers for you all.

Winter in our part of California is clear and cool.

100lc_figueroa2

Danielle used paper whites, tulips and loads of pine cones for a simple, rustic vibe. We mixed in greys and browns with the weathered wood, plus some simple vintage textiles you can find at any flea/antique market, proving that you don’t need snow for things to feel cozy and winterful.

100lc_figueroa3

100lc_figueroa51

Blue hydrangeas and berries for a more colorful option. Plus vintage apothecary bottles (also from the flea market)… we were sold on the little numbers.

100lc_figueroa6

For favors we made English Toffee, which is a super yummy little treat for guests that goes perfectly with cooler weather. It keeps in the fridge for weeks so you can make it well ahead of time and package it just before the event. (You can see the recipe and tutorial on Lovely Morning, if you’re so inclined).

And perhaps our favorite detail, vintage clip-on earrings for placecard holders. There are endless options available at thrift stores and flea markets, they’re great mixed up with each other and they’re inexpensive. AND pretty darn cute, right?

100lc_figueroa81

Two lovely bouquets… simple tulips and paperwhites, and a more textured version with berries and a big velvet ribbon.

Thanks so much Jose, Danielle, and Gretchen from the Farmhouse! Such a beeeeautiful venue. And such talented peeps.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the theme of my wedding and the style I want to portray. I am such a big fan of Jane Austen: I love her stories, the era, the style, everything! I asked my fiancee if he’d be willing to wear one of the old regency tailcoats…he said not so much. But whether you are a Jane Austen fan or not, it most certainly makes for lovely inspiration.

First we start with the fabulous Jane Austen inspired dresses. I love the simplicity of these dresses, the tiny details and how they flow.

Beautiful laces and trims and fabrics seen in these original and replica regency dresses from the BBC costume set. I’m pretty sure my wedding will include all things lace: love this lace necklace and lace umbrella. Wouldn’t it be fun in a photoshoot? Top it off with a simple floral headpiece and I’m set!

An old ballroom from the Bath Assembly Room, England. Beautiful chandeliers and ceilings. I will probably have my reception outdoors but I do love this room. I’ve seen old books being used as decor in many weddings, I love collecting old books. This home was actually owned by the brother of Jane Austen. If I could find an old house with a lovely open field, I’d have the wedding of my dreams.

Love these dried flowers as decor. Especially love the one long table idea and definitely plan to have this at my reception. Calligraphy addressed envelopes are so fabulous and depending on where you live, I’ve seen many calligraphy classes offered so if you have the time, you could learn yourself!

Tomorrow I have a super cute DIY save the date idea. xo, Danni!

One of my biggest obsessions is typography. I could look at it, design with it and talk about it all day. So it’s been exciting for me to see typography playing a larger role in wedding and event design recently. Decor is an area where we’ve just started to scratch the surface, but we’re definitely looking for fun and interesting ways to incorporate type into our space. Here’s a few examples that are getting the wheels turning.

Another aspect of our wedding I’ve yet to mention is that we’re trying to go handmade as much as possible, so Etsy has been a trusted companion throughout the planning process. Etsy also just so happens to be an amazing resource for typographic decor items. Here’s a few to get you started:

This week Sarah has been sharing some pretty yummy tips regarding food and catering at your wedding. Now, Melanie of Lucky & Lovely would like to share a special DIY Valentine’s project that would be so fun to make for someone sweet in your life.

100lc_valbymelaine01

From Melanie:

Hello lovelies, I’d like to share with you a special Valentines treat. My inspiration was just a way to make the ordinary valentine a bit more special. I personally love sweets of any kind, anything from brownies, cookies, cupcakes and smores. I created this little treat for anyone to share with their sweetie no matter what your skills are. If you are the baking type, you might want to try a twist on the traditional brownie and try Joy the Baker’s Smore’s Brownie. I thought it would be cute if you use heart shape cutter to cut the brownies. If you run short of time, go to the best artisanal bakery in your area and purchase something delicious to package up with these sweet tags I created.

100lc_valbymelaine2

Here’s how:
I bought these smores and heart black and white cookies from Star Provisions, in Atlanta. Who wouldn’t want to wake up to this with a darling little card by Yellow Bird Paper Greetings or you can make your own. The kraft boxes were purchased at a local art supply store, but your baker may have pink bakery boxes as well or you can order these little sweet boxes off etsy.

100lc_valbymelaine031

Lastly, make sure the packaging is a delightful as your sentiment and the goodies being given. I created these little hang tags to finish off the valentine’s day treat. I used Kraft paper and a circle die punch. You can also find clean cut tags on here in many different colors. the tag is 2.5″.

You can download Melanie’s template here.

Enjoy and have a Happy Valentine’s Day!

Thanks, Melanie for sharing this mouth-watering inspiration with us!
