WOW. We are ruuuullllly late posting today. It’s practically nighttime for you east coast readers. Sorry about that. Sometimes weeks are busier than others, as you all likely know.
But never fear, we do have something. And it’s a really great thing. Sara and Mark were officially married last November in a small Central Park ceremony. This May, 6 glorious months of wedded bliss later, they threw a party for their family and friends to celebrate their marriage. Aww.
They did everything themselves (which we obvs love). The flowers and fruit for the centerpieces came from Whole Foods and Sara arranged them herself using vases and vessels from the Dollar Store and Ikea. Mark designed their invites and their website. They made super cute Motown lyric buttons and had a huge display of homemade cakes. But you know what’s the best? Games! They had croquet on the lawn and in our opinion every party is better with group activities. Nothing is more fun than sipping cocktails and engaging in leisure sport.

Congrats Sara and Mark on your awesome lawn party! And of course your marriage.

Some cute, personal details from weddings we’ve received over the past few months.
Embroidered dress label from Karen + Matt (by Merri Cyr)
Handmade tie from Tracy + Scot (by Tweet Design)
Decorative tire swing from Elizabeth + Jared (Sharon Taylor Designs and Twin Town Studios)
Red ribbon on the fence from From Sillapere
We totally love that all of these little details could pretty easily be made yourself. Especially that long red ribbon leading to the ceremony spot. Such a lovely way to draw guests in to your wedding! Of course you need a nice long fence and a pretty path… overlooking the ocean.

We thought we’d start the week with a nice feel-good project from The Wedding Co. They’re creating a huge chandelier of paper cranes collected from engaged couples everywhere and donating 50 cents per crane to cancer research. Plus the end result is going to be a huge community art installation piece, and those are always great.

Their goal is to collect 10,000 cranes by January 2011, but if we spread the word, it seems like it could be more than that, right? Pass on the info and/or send your crane their way! All cranes from enagaged couples should include your names, a general location and your wedding date. For more info and to see where to send your crane, (or to request a premade crane from The Wedding Co.), go to their website:
