Another perty wedding to start the week with… this time from Jose Villa. Yay. We love his work.

Christy grew up in the south and when planning her wedding wanted to have as “country” a wedding as possible on the west coast. Most importantly they wanted their wedding to feel like home, while spending an evening under stars with with delicious food and friends and family. The Carneros Inn turned out to be a perfect blend of rustic charm and hip, modern style. Can’t blame them. The Carneros Inn is seriously beautiful.

Maybe one of the best parts of the whole wedding was that Christy’s extraordinarily dapper 80 year old grandfather performed the ceremony. How sweet is that?? Following the ceremony, in true Southern tradition, a trumpeter led guests to the cocktail hour. Something about incorporating unexpected music into your wedding day really makes it memorable. Especially as a guest.

PLUS, we have their super sweet super 8 video to share too.

We’re so super excited that Rachel’s etsy shop is finally open. You of course remember the awesome tutorial we did with her… the ruffly belt? Well, now you can have one for yourself (or a headband) without actually doing it yourself. But the DIY sentiment is there of couse. It’s more like do-it-with-Rachel. Which is just as nice. Especially if you’re strapped for time leading up to your wedding.

Anyway, go check out her shop. And if you don’t see what you’re looking for, she’s the nicest person and is totally up for taking custom orders. For instance she doesn’t have any belts in the shop at the moment, but of course she can make you one. Or 6 (for your maids).

ANOTHER super pretty, rustic, southern California wedding to share this week. We’ve been so anxious to see these photos since Erin Hearts Court sent us over Charles and Nadia’s sweet summer picnic engagement shoot. Remember how we all wanted desperately to have such a perfect little outing with our boyfriends/fiances/husbands?

Their wedding turned out just as beautiful, thanks to lovely styling from Meg at La Partie Events. She always does such pretty work.

For the look of the wedding, Nadia and Charles wanted to incorporate nods to their respective heritages in the details. The placecards were marked by matryoshka doll favors that were brought (with tons of love) all the way from Russia by Nadia’s family. Charles is Venezuelan so they included pretty paper flags in his honor. Their theme took inspiration from Nadia’s fun, romantic, vintagey style and from the eclectic look of Anthropologie… which we clearly all appreciate. Meg put in tons of thought coming up with the perfect mixture of vintage and new, soft and rustic, playful and romantic and from the yummy photos, it definitely looks like it came together perfectly. Plus Erin Hearts Court’s photo style really mixed perfectly with the vibe of the whole wedding.

Which is kind of an interesting thing to consider when choosing your photographer. Make sure their style suits the vision you have for your wedding. Right? Just a thought.

A few weeks ago Jillian hosted a super sweet little get together for NY area stationers as a way to bring designers together, get acquainted and put a face to the work that we all admire. What we’ve learned in talking to members of the stationary community is that while everyone enjoys looking at each others’ work, they seldom meet in a relaxed environment where they have the chance to just have a drink and mingle with their peers.

Jillian had the super idea to put on a little event that allowed for some of our favorite paper artists to come out from behind their computers and printers and letterpresses, sip some wine and talk shop. We think it turned out really cute!

Elan Artists was kind enough to lend their amazing space for the event and Josh hopes to host future events that keep the space as collaborative as possible. What an awesome idea. Jillian was able to enlist the talents of a number of industry friends who we’ve been lucky enough to meet through our blog.

Jillian even made blueberry jam during a recent family vacation in Michigan for favors. Awww. We’re definitely going to show a little tutorial on this project next week, along with recipe cards.
