Who here has an engagement session on the books this fall? If you saw our Insta last week, you might already know what a completely rad time up in Angeles National Forest we had with The Black Tux for our latest collab. If there’s one type of e-sesh we always fall for it’s gotta be one with a little glam. At first it may seem impossible to pull off a chic engagement look while you’re budgeting for the big day, but that’s if you’re thinking of purchasing, not renting, your outfits, right? Being able to rent a perfectly fitting suit = total engagement shoot game-changer, guys.
We enlisted the talented Mary Costa to bring out all the details in the Contrast Shawl Jacket Tuxedo and other elegant pieces that made up our bride + groom’s ensembles. A white dinner jacket with black lapels is such a classic look, but it definitely comes with an element of surprise when up against a gorgeous backdrop for the engagement.
Because white + red make such an elegant pair, we dressed our bride up in a ruffle halter gown. Isn’t her hair + makeup from our friends at Fiore Beauty so gorg?
If you haven’t shopped on The Black Tux before, the process is all online and their fit specialists ensure that the suit you receive is the right one for you. And if something doesn’t fit exactly right, their fit guarantee gets you a replacement or tailor for adjustments with plenty of time to spare before your event. (Learn more about measurements + fit here.)
By the way, don’t you think the white jacket is kind of a perfect way to make a statement during your reception when the big day rolls around? If a bride wants to change into something a little more bold and flirty for the reception, she usually chooses a second dress that fits her budget, you know? If you’re already renting your day-of duds from The Black Tux rather than purchasing one to keep, you might even have room in the budget to pull off two looks as well. Girls having all the fun with fashion? Not here!
Of The Flowers stealing our hearts with this vibrant floral and fall foliage mix over here! The Notch Lapel Tuxedo is our second engagement shoot look, which is especially sleek when paired with a glitzy gold gown.
Helps when you’ve got a vintage Porsche on loan, yeah? Best shoot-slash-date-night ever!
As always, grooms can rent complete outfits, including the shoes, cufflinks, bowties, and dress shirt, order the tux alone, or grab any extras to polish off a look already in the works.
Another bonus of the formal engagement? It gives you a chance to experiment with possible wedding looks way in advance! Super perfect for the groom that’s not sure where to start when it comes to formalwear. We love the idea of translating this classic, more traditional look to the ceremony, and then spicing it up with the white dinner jacket for a playful transition.
