As you can probably already tell from this first photo Catalina Jean shared, Anne-Marie + Wendell’s Washington wedding had the sweetest playful + laidback vibe. We sure love seeing surprising wedding colors like orange, red, and marigold around here, and Gorge Crest Vineyards was just the place to add in those few cheery pops of color for spring. Take a peek!
Sarah of SELVA Floral worked her magic with the wildflower-inspired bouquet + flower crown.
Um, cutest wedding ensembles ever! They’re both inspired by vintage style, so they wanted their wedding to have a bit of a 60s and 70s influence (which also matches their taste in music). See more of their style inspiration on Pinterest.
A + W’s must-have list for a venue (and why Gorge Crest Vineyards in Underwood, WA was it):
• Outdoor setting
• Cool, early spring weather
• Stunning mountain and tree views
• Easy to customize
• Somewhere their 85 guests had never been!
Since this was a destination wedding with guests coming from Texas, they enlisted Whitney of Whitney Werts & Company to help them channel their natural, retro-inspired design. They even made sure to source locally for the favors and welcome bags, hunting them down from afar.
All about these bright orange hues…
On choosing a photographer, Anne-Marie tells it, We wanted someone real, who would capture the day in the same way we felt it. We wanted to see the happiness and the heaviness of this important milestone. We also wanted our photos to be artfully tasteful, and almost fantastical. Catalina of Catalina Jean Photography is both very real, and does a great job portraying her clients’ stories, in a fairytale sort of way. She captures the smiles and the tears. When we discussed our day, and what we were looking for, I could easily tell she was the one!
The proposal just about sums up our family dynamic perfectly: It was New Years Eve, and we had decided well in advance that we were going to stay in, and DIY a charcuterie board. We spent the day sourcing our ingredients, came home, made the board, shared a bottle of pinot noir, then realized the B52’s were playing a free concert downtown. So we decided to take a nap, then go out and catch the show. We were running behind schedule, and I was waiting for what seemed like forever for him to get out of the bathroom so we could go. He finally emerged with our cat, Hans and asked me to come sit with him because he seemed nervous and upset. I sat down and started cuddling with kitty and all of the sudden I noticed that a) he was wearing his tiny collar from when he was a baby and b) there was something sparkly on it! Before I had a chance to even get the ring off the collar, Wendell asked me to be his wife. I immediately said yes, started bawling and almost forgot to get the ring before the cat took off. We eventually made it to see the B52’s (just in time for our Karaoke favorite, Love Shack), and then went to celebrate at a friend’s party afterward. So much for our quiet NYE, but what a night to remember!
Congrats, you two!
