Would you consider a wedding in a country you’ve never been before? Sounds to us like the ultimate destination wedding: choosing a magical spot you and your beau have always dreamed of but never had the chance to visit. For Rachel and Cory of Denver, CO, that place was Bali. And magical doesn’t even begin to describe this celestial dream day… Keep reading for their tropical boho wedding at Villa The Sanctuary Bali from Allume Weddings and Hitch’d Weddings & Events…
Why Bali, you ask? Rachel says, We knew we wanted a destination wedding but it took us some time to decide where. When we brought up the idea of doing it in Bali for some reason it just stuck. We wanted our wedding to be in a place that naturally had beauty, magic, and something that we couldn’t experience in our home country, and Bali could not have been more perfect. Neither of us had been to Bali before the actual wedding but it had been on our travel dream list.
They enlisted Kira of Hitch’d to plan their day, starting with choosing the perfect venue. Just from the photos of The Sanctuary, Rachel and Cory were sold. It had jungle vibes and looked nothing like anything they’d experienced here in the US.
Plus, it was the perfect lush backdrop for their luxe bohemian style.
The bride’s bouquet included a mix of white and pale peach roses, orchids, lunaria, and dried palm leaves.

We wanted it to have this really magical dreamy feeling throughout the entire day and night. We both wanted something that would feel classic and timeless which is why we kept the color palette very neutral but then also wanted to add some special dreamy elements with all of the lights. We really wanted to make the dinner a big part of the reception since we had a smaller wedding (30 guests) and we wanted it to feel intimate, with everyone sitting down together to have an amazing feast. That table set up was such a dream come true!
Srsly though, how gorgeous is this venue? The Villa is located near Canggu, which is a popular area in Bali. Its massive lawns tiered perfectly to host each part of the wedding day, and most guests stayed with them the whole week.
Once R + C landed on their location, venue, and planner, it took them about 8 months to plan from the US.
All the celestial details throughout helped create an enchanting jungle experience unlike any other. So pretty.

Leading up the wedding there was a lot happening in Indonesia as far as earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcano eruptions, so we were starting to get nervous about what we would do if that happened when we would be there. A lot of our friends and family were nervous about traveling with all of that going on. With a destination wedding that is a 24-hour flight away, it was really tough to know who was really able to come. Even if we got a confirmed RSVP, we didn’t believe anyone was actually coming until they got their plane ticket, and surprisingly a lot of our friends waited until just a month or so before the wedding to buy theirs. We were starting to get nervous that we had planned this awesome wedding and no one was going to show! Luckily most of our closest friends and family made the trip out there to be a part of it, and that was something really special.
No siree, would not want to miss a wedding like this! Cheers, you two!
