Happy hump day, Cakies! Who here is on the pulse of the West Coast fashion scene? Then you might recognize our blogger bride Kelly, of Birdie Shoots. She + Kevin are based in SF, so they scooped up the chance to have their wedding be a bit of a destination at the Ace Hotel Palm Springs. Whitney of Our Labor of Love and YEAH! Weddings was behind the lens, and Hailey of Two Roads Event Co helped them bring their modern boho, bougainvillea-inspired wedding to life.
Gah, that bouquet! A bougainvillea-inspired beauty by Siren Floral Co.
Kelly + Kevin are both inspired by mid-century modern design, clean lines, and complimentary textures. They event wanted to make sure the flowers followed the same clean aesthetic. Check and check!
Love this unique blue print from Show Me Your Mumu for the ‘maids, aren’t you?

Kelly tells it, We jumped into planning pretty quickly after getting engaged in April of 2016. We called the ACE pretty soon thereafter and put a hold on the venue, which even at over a year out was booked up. We definitely lucked out getting the big things out of the way first (DJ, photographer, videographer, coordinator). Our coordinator, Hailey of Two Roads Event Co, was so instrumental in helping us along the way, I would certainly recommend anyone in the planning process to hire a coordinator or planner!
DIY projects included this donut board, signage by the bride’s dad, indigo table linens, and pillows made by Kelly’s mom.
The best part of planning a Palm Springs wedding from Northern California? All the weekend trips they got to take to meet with vendors and lock down details! Flip through our gallery below for more Palm Springs wedding ideas:
The proposal story… Our day began with an impromptu hike in the Marin Headlands. The weather was just beginning to warm up around bay area and we thought it only natural to take the day to explore. Unbeknownst to me, our day couldn’t have been more planned. After a few failed attempts to find a spot to picnic on our hike, we finally agreed to go off the path a bit and settle down in the grassy overlook. I had only managed to eat a few bites of lunch before Kevin anxiously handed me a letter. At first I didn’t think anything of this, he’s quite the romantic and had written me letters in the past. Upon opening it, I realized it was much, much, more than that. After tearing up he proceed to get down on one knee and popped the question. I instantly broke down and had began to cry, and of course said YES! We ended our day with a seaplane ride over San Francisco.
So cute. Congratulations, Kelly and Kevin!
