Alright, Cakies, is this ceremony locale the stuff of destination wedding dreams, or what?! Annie + Bernard are beach lovers who couldn’t resist the idea of a fun, relaxed wedding-slash-mini-vacay in Thailand with 80 of their loved ones. They also wanted to keep everything elegant while adding a pop of color, so they enlisted The Wedding Bliss Thailand to help design a watercolor theme with lots of dip-dye details and playful yet soft pinks. Annie tells it, I couldn’t decide between a beach or garden themed wedding. The Surin Phuket allowed us to have both. We loved how the pristine beach of The Surin Phuket is very private and picturesque which served as the perfect backdrop for our ceremony. They have a grass lawn right next to the beach for us to create a garden themed reception. It’s a win-win.
This sweet moment right here was Annie’s fave moment. Bernard’s favorite was the first dance that they had taken lessons to practice for. So cute!
Our wedding favor was a luggage tag that says The Adventure Begins. It serves as a memory for guests as they’ve attended a destination wedding and also symbolizes the beginning of our life long journey… Having a personal touch made the wedding much more memorable to us and to the guests. The invitation suite, the program fan, and the luggage tag wedding favors were done by myself. I’d hand written all the place cards after picking up calligraphy recently.
All this watercolor wedding decor sure is pretty.
Now for a few epic shots by Darin Images of the sparkler sendoff + fireworks show that ended the night…
Words of advice for all you destination brides + grooms… The hurdles we came across first of all was distance when it comes to destination wedding. You cannot physically be there to site visit and meet all the vendors. That’s why having a planner helped significantly in finding the best vendors in town and coordinating the details. I’d suggest using a Pinterest board for communication, it’s the most effective way to let the planners know your style and feel.
Weather is also a big factor in an outdoor wedding. In fact, it did rain during the reception and we had to move everything indoors. Having a backup plan in these situations is crucial. Luckily our talented planners from The Wedding Bliss Thailand worked with the catering service from The Surin Phuket to make the transition seamless. We didn’t have to worry about a thing. But most importantly, it’s a day of celebration with the love of your life and the people you treasure the most, so be it rain or shine, you should make the most out of it. Don’t fret about a little bit of rain.
Cheers to the happy couple!
