There’s no shortage of sweet, whimsical backdrops and spring wedding ideas in planner Jessica of Blushing Joy Events and her guy Chris’ greenhouse nuptials. In fact, Jessica was first captivated by Shelldance Orchid Gardens in Pacifica years ago, when she first collaborated with their now-wedding photog Yasmin Sarai on a super fun pastel styled shoot there that we actually featured way back when. So fun to see how she decked out the space in the past, and made it her own when it came time to plan their wedding.
She also hooked up with My Wedding Sense on the florals for that shoot back then, and it’s no surprise that she wanted this talented crew on her team when it came to the big day!
Jessica tells it, When creating the design for our wedding, we wanted to use the natural elements of the greenhouse and outdoor setting to create an intimate yet romantic setting. To contrast all the greenery in the greenhouse, I picked out dusty lavender dresses for my bridesmaids, and navy-blue suits for the groomsmen. For our reception space, I chose a light blue linen for all the guest tables to stand out against the outdoor space. The guest tables were lined with colorful florals to highlight the joyous event. Vibrant colors were used for the florals, such as coral, hues of pink, pops of yellow, and white.
Doesn’t the greenhouse make one amazing aisle to walk down!?
Jessica walked down to It’s Your Day by Yiruma and their first dance was to Ed Sheeran’s Perfect.
For our wedding, I chose vendors who were near and dear to me and Blushing Joy Events. These vendors helped and encouraged me in many ways in the beginning of my business, and I wanted to include them in our special day. Our wedding invitations were carefully crafted by Tia Joy Kim, who hand-painted all the watercolor elements, and later put together by Kelly Design Co, who added the graphic designs. It was perfectly romantic yet simple. Our florals were arranged by My Wedding Sense, who also designed and hand-crafted a wooden backboard for our ceremony, and adorned the stage with hanging glass terrariums with florals. Various types of gold and silver vases, filled with blush, coral, and peach florals lined our guest tables. We chose light blue linen to brighten the space, and placed linen matte stoneware with white hemstitched napkins on the tables. The napkins were decorated with greenery and a personalized name card. To match our plate setting, we chose beautiful white and gold flatware from Frances Lane.
Their “table numbers” were all logos from some of their favorite cafes they’ve explored together. Love it!

Chris and I became friends in a Bible study group at church, and I never imagined we would end up dating, or even married! We were complete opposites and had different interests. However, both of us had a flexible schedule during the week (he was in law school, and I worked from home), so we ended up working together at cafes. As I got to know him, I realized he was a very caring and kind-hearted person, and to my surprise, someone I could see myself with for the rest of my life. Chris became interested in my hobbies, such as exploring new cafes (now he is the coffee snob) and shopping, and I also grew to love the things he did, such as nature and dogs. Now when we have free time, we always check out a new specialty coffee cafe, and go on a nice walk!
Cheers, you two!
