A few months ago, Jillian boarded the Surfliner train and headed north to SLO for a wedding workshop hosted by Emily of Anna Delores Photography and Vanessa Noel Events. She got to chat with everyone about the submission process and what we look for in the content we feature. They were working with their attendees to create beautiful content and share their styling tips with others in the industry. It’s so inspiring to see what they’ve produced in photos! So much time and effort goes into each and every shot and we’re thrilled to share the results. Totally blog worthy… Duh.
Coco Rose Design sure worked magic with her florals!Vanessa of Vanessa Noel Events says, For the editorial portion of the workshop, I wanted to play with combining black and white with soft spring florals in a way that still remained earthy. The distressed white farm table with bold black bentwood chairs grounded the table for more whimsical and romantic floral to shine. I asked Raina of Fete & Quill to create menus in a muddy stone color to sort of “bridge the gap” of the black & white contrast, pick up on the draped velvet runner and help keep the table feeling organic. She also created shale rock place cards, which offered another layer of texture.
During the workshop, attendees got to take part in a welcome dinner featuring a cozy, rustic family style feast inside the barn at Higuera Ranch. It was completely different than this elegant black and white editorial so guests were even more surprised by this design when it came time to shoot!
Something so so stunning about white calligraphy on black paper, don’t you think?
And these rings by Everett Fine Jewelry… Swoon!
One of my favorite elements we pulled together was the cake display. I wanted to create a display that felt very angular, structural, and masculine for an interesting contrast with the soft shades of the cake and the organic surroundings. I stacked iron side tables from Avenue Twelve to create an asymmetrical pyramid of sorts and added a white gauze runner for romance.

Thanks to Emily + Vanessa and the team below for this amazing experience! It was so lovely to collab on what makes an incredible editorial for our brides to see.
