We’re starting the week off with a super fun, retro summer wedding shot by the ever so lovely Taryn and Shelby of Joielala Photographie. It has us feeling all giddy inside, and was flawlessly executed for $11,000! Recognize these two drop-dead gorgeous, rockin’ lovebirds? They’re Dominique + Ron, super talented photography duo behind Love Me Sailor. Now it’s their turn to be in front of the camera and show off their special day. We’re loving on their wedding so much that we had to turn it into a three part mini-series. Enough talk, let’s get into it. There are too many goodies to see!
With us being wedding photographers, we see a lot of weddings, both as we shoot them and on the blogs we sift through. Luckily, without being overwhelmed, we had a very clear vision of what we wanted ours to look like. We were double as lucky to have one of our very dearest friends (and one of Ron’s groomsmen), Jeffrey Caballero, a killer visuals designer, work closely on every visual element of the wedding. He couldn’t have done a more amazing job at executing our kooky ideas, while still giving them great style.
My dress was quite a project. I found it at a flea market for $175, but the skirt was plain flat linen. I had the incredible Daniela Kurrle in West Hollywood remake the entire skirt for me and also had her add a vintage rhinestone necklace as a little belt. It was my dream dress and she went above and beyond!
Jeffrey and a few other friends made our chuppah out of bamboo and tissue paper streamers and flowers. A ton of our supplies came from Moskatels & Crafts store in downtown LA, the tissue paper from Nashville Wraps, and the tissue fan bursts from Devra Party Online.
For both decor and flowers, I believe we spent close to $2,200. Jeffrey did all the floral design, and me, my mom, and another friend were his assembly assistants for the arrangements.
Coming from a long line of musicians, music was of huge importance to them, especially since Dominique is also a singer (photographer + singer = double threat!), so you better believe there were great tunes at their wedding! Ron and the bridal parties walked in to “Chapel of Love” by the Dixie Cups and Dominique walked in to the hauntingly dreamy and romantic “Sleepwalk”, by Santo and Johnny.
