The couple that designs together and has Jackie Wonders photograph their wedding, stays together. Meet Karl + Gina – super adorable, talented and happily married duo behind Kymera Studio, a sunny San Diego based design company. We have the honor of sharing their elegant and intimate wedding with you. This one is full of sweet goodies and might possibly take first place for having the cutest invitation suites we ever laid eyes on!
Want to know all the deets on these cuties? Here’s Gina to break it down:
We designed our own invitations – truly a labor of love! We had them printed locally in San Diego by Blend. Since we only needed 40 invitations printed, it was more cost effective to use their Indigo Press, as opposed to a regular offset press, plus the Indigo Press is capable of producing wonderfully vibrant colors. We then had them laser cut into an ornate shape, which is more cost effective than a die-cut for smaller runs. Since our wedding took place outdoors at an organic farm, I set out to find cool vintage animal/nature stamps. Verde Studio’s (on Etsy) collection was perfect! She helped me put together the perfect combo. And Betsy Dunlap’s calligraphy is just exquisite, so of course we went with her!
Being big fans of jazz music, they had Gina’s uncle jump on the guitar to play U2’s, All I Want Is You as she walked down the aisle.
We don’t have the live recording of her uncle’s version (wouldn’t that be something else?), but you can listen to U2’s version of the song here:
Our single, long dining table was filled with wine bottles and the loveliest flowers tucked into a variety of small vases we purchased at Ikea. These vases of peonies, garden roses and wild flowers in shades of coral, yellow and bright pink were interspersed with clusters of lemons and gardenias. Sprigs of lavender from the property were tucked into the menus we designed. It was the most beautiful table I had ever seen!
Luckily our outdoor venue provided much of the “decor”, so we only spent about $200 on decor. We also made a donation to a local food bank in lieu of favors.
We had tiers of red velvet and key lime Sprinkles cupcakes nestled beneath white netting. My husband proposed by putting the ring in a single Sprinkles cupcake box, so we had to celebrate our wedding with our favorite cupcakes!
As twilight filtered in through the olive trees we enjoyed an intimate family style dinner (inspired by our travels to Tuscany) with our 30 guests. Strands of white lights twinkled in the canopy and the jazz band played while we and our most cherished loved ones enjoyed an evening of love and laughter.
