With hand drawn details and a hip vintage take on a Disney fairy tale, this wedding is the perfect way to keep us inspired despite having to return to work after a long weekend. We know we don’t know Lauren + Shil, but we know our lives would be a lot more fun if we did. He’s a radio publicist, and she’s an awesome illustrator (hence the charming illustrations you’ll see in their invitations, bridesmaid dresses, programs, activity book, and tote bag favors). She’s a Disney kid at heart with a Snow White-esque feel, who has always dreamt of a woodland creature themed wedding since she was a kid, complete with a forest and little animals. As luck would have it, Shil would be the guy that was just as into the idea as she was! Their wedding says it all!
I designed the invites myself and had them printed at a local print shop in town. It was kind of a daunting task! It’s so much easier to design for other people! We ended up spending around $100 total for the cost of printing, envelopes, and a rubber address stamp – not bad!
Ok, we’re cheating by sharing their first dance song way before you see them dancing to it, but we can’t help it. The song, Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space by Spiritualized is too perfect. Listen to it here while you continue to swoon over their adorable wedding!
The most exciting project Lauren dabbled with was the bridesmaids’ dresses. She drew a fox and raccoon pattern and had the fabric printed via Spoonflower. Then wrote the lovely Whitney Deal to see if she’d collaborate on making a few dresses. Cute, yes?
Sometimes little details get overlooked. Not this time. Lauren + Shil, we see your hand painted poles lining your aisle, and we LOVE them!
As far as tunes go: Ripple by the Grateful Dead was played during the processional, the song Lauren walked to, you’re going to love this, was Love from Disney’s Robin Hood (so perfect for a woodsy wedding!), and their recessional song was This Will Be Our Year by the Zombies.
The first venue we looked at was The Barn at Price Mountain Farm in Pendergrass, GA. The minute we pulled up to the barn, we knew it was exactly what we wanted. The actual barn itself was the perfect blank canvas for our reception, but my favorite part of the venue was where our ceremony took place – – next to a big pond, with a spot right near the waters edge, surrounded by forest. It was so peaceful; all you could hear was the chirping of insects and the breeze through the trees. As you can see, we were married just how I always wanted, near a forest, by a pond, surrounded by cute little animals (in the forms of our friends and family).
We love a custom tote bag for guests! These cutie raccoons were obviously designed by Lauren, and printed through Satisfactory Printing.
An activity book? It’s killing us to see how many fun things these two thought of!
These illustrations remind us of a cuter, more modern version of the Fantastic Mr. Fox characters.
Hooray for Lauren + Shil!
