Sweet, sweet Friday has arrived! And to conclude our week of amazing weddings that are sure to inspire you into the weekend, we’re sharing an outdoor celebration on a gorgeous farm location in Ripon, just north of Harrogate, Yorkshire. The wedding of Kirsty + Rob heavily featured their love of literature (she’s an English teacher), and theatre (he works at a theatre). With adamant feelings of not wanting a ‘traditional’ wedding and wanting the day to focus on fun, merriment and bringing people together – well, they achieved it all, and then some. As Rob jokingly said, it turned out to be the perfect ‘Wedstival’, complete with camping and the cutest seafoam green VW.
My dress was made by the wonderful Linda Davey at No9 Bridal Couture, using a pattern I found of a vintage wedding dress, and my headpiece was from Andrea Bambridge in York.
A major factor was price. It become obvious very quickly that doing things ‘differently’ slashed the costs normally associated with weddings. Our venue was almost laughably cheap and we had a fish and chip van for our wedding breakfast. Both of these things enabled us to keep costs low and invite everyone we wanted. It was so special to turn around after ‘I do’ and know that everyone I cared about was there; there’s no way I’d trade that for an expensive venue and meal. It kept everything so relaxed.
Congrats Kirsty + Rob!
