We have a super sweet country party to share with you all today… one that just oozes summer, Americana, and beautiful nostalgia. It’s the anniversary party of a sweet couple and friends of 100LC, Jonathan and Louise. They have such a great story to go along with their party. We think you’re going to love it.
Five years ago they decided to get married in their home town in Iowa (they met on the bus when they were 15!), and found the most perfect venue on a beautiful farm with a restored farmhouse and barn. Shortly after their wedding, the owners told them they were putting the property up for sale. And get this, the newlyweds bought it. Their first home, in a state they no longer live in! (They’re Los Angeles residents now). The place was too special and too beautiful to let go, and they hoped that it could be a place for friends and family to gather for years to come.
Which brings us to now… a few weeks ago actually. When J + L hosted their 5 year party on the same farm, attended by friends and family, old and young, naked and clothed (you’ll see what we mean later in the post!).
Because their farm is pretty rural, hiring vendors wasn’t much of an option. So they counted on friends and family to help with setting things up and bringing the fun. Which as Louise says, is a great way to get creative with making your event super personal.
Here’s their super sweet family now, starring baby Jack. Isn’t he delicious?
Guests wore white or pastels, they ate pie, they played croquet, babies went naked. Louise organized all the flowers and decor. It’s a bang up Midwest party, if you ask us.
The highlight of the party for J + L was the hayride. Seeing all their friends and family, babies in laps, smiles on faces, riding together and watching the sun set over the prairie made the evening.

And do you know what’s amazing? They’ve decided to open up The Farm as a venue for weddings and parties in Fairfield, Iowa. Sweet! That means any of you planning events in that neck of the woods should totally contact Louise through her blog to talk about specifics.
