Despite the unpredictable Scottish weather Susie + Moss celebrated in the open lawn of one handsome little cottage set in the wild woodlands with 130 of their favorite guests. Decor was a huge factor for this bride. Always having been inspired by the imagery seen photographer, Tim Walker’s work, she envisioned the wedding to be an explosion of massive balloons, streamers & garlands strewn everywhere. Her and the mister toned down that idea some but kept color high on the mind – going for yellow, turquoise, white and grey (colors largely dictated by the Scottish weather). As far as that toned down Tim Walker-esque decor? Yep, we see it and we’re loving it!
Our invites were quite the process – with us closely involved in every element as I am a bit of a stationary print/paper nut! I thought sourcing the paper for our invite was almost as exciting as skimming through rails of gorgeous wedding dresses! The process involved:
1) A beautiful reference point, pinning down my colour palette and sourcing the paper (a gorgeous dove grey cairn board). Moss and his copy-writing wisdom (he works in advertising) nailed the text on the invites. 2) Our friend, Pandayoghurt took these elements and designed the invitation. 3) We then used the amazingly talented Luma Studio to screen print the invitations. 4) My lovely university friends and fashion accessories gurus Jenkins & Power, then helped me gold foil to add the finishing touches.
Bridesmaids wore dresses that I roughly designed and my very talented aunt then made with fabrics bought from a London market. We teamed the tea dresses with white cardigans to add a more casual air with chunky heeled pumps to complete the look.
Such a fun program outlining the day: Fizz & Nibbles, Grub & Speeches, Drinking & Dancing, Bonfire Boozing.
When walking through this little greenhouse, guests were asked to grab a card, write a message and place it inside an empty yellow envelope. Of course Susie wanted to jazz the space up a bit, so she added colored gell to the inside of the windows with a light-bulb placed in the ceiling so it glowed at night.
Their escort cards consisted of hanging tins filled with flowers and each guests’ names taped down the length of string.
Like many of you, Susie found Pinterest to be the best tool in helping to keep all her ideas in one place. Event though her wedding is over, she’s still pinning away and adding to her wedding board. It’s neat to take a peek at what she pinned and see how she included certain elements in her decor.
