There’s a certain gracefulness that’s evident when Elizabeth Messina photographs a couple. We fall more in love with her photography every time we see it and we’re sure you will too after being captivated by this wedding, recently featured in The Knot. Not only are Saree + Sidh a handsome twosome, their romantically rustic wedding also honored their Indian heritage in such a beautiful way. From the intricate mehndi applied to Saree’s feet, to the white garlands hanging above their ceremony, to the embroidered table runners.
The two of them designed their wedding band together – a yellow gold band with black diamonds.
Saree’s bridal bouquet of a handful of Lily of the Valley was simple and elegant.
We planned a welcome pool party/mehndi party for our out of town guests and close friends and family on the Thursday before our wedding (which was a Saturday). We wanted family that had never met (people came from Africa, London, Dubai, NYC, and Paris) to have a chance to get to know each other over a weekend of fun events. We thought it would be fun for everyone to get a chance to partake in a beautiful Hindu wedding tradition by having Mehndi done.

Because they wanted their celebration to feel homey and cozy they held their wedding at Saree’s father’s beautiful house. The house was built around that gorgeous tree used as the backdrop for their ceremony where Saree walked down the aisle to Cat Power’s “Sea of Love”.

After the ceremony Sidh and I were walking back down the aisle when the ceremony ended to the guest house to have a little time alone to take it all in. As we walked back we both put our arms in the air as we held hands. It was so funny that we both did it at the same time, thinking the same thing. We looked at each other and laughed and really felt the magic of what we had just done. We committed to each other forever in front of our loved ones and it felt exciting and sacred.
