Katch usually writes to us as a wedding photographer, but this time she wrote to us as a bride! Love when that happens. It makes us wonder what kind of wedding they’ll have, who they’ll have capture it all, and where it will all take place. So what kind of wedding did Katch have? It was a small intimate gathering, photographed beautifully by James Moes, and took place in a hay field in Bigfork, Montana. Katch was never the type to have a fantasy wedding in mind, but if she had been, this would have been it.
That morning Katch gave Kory a gift that she’d been working on for a while. She designed her own fabric, with “forty nine things I love about you, dear Kory” as the title. She wrote out a list, designed it as a big piece of fabric, used Spoonflower to get it printed, and sewed it together into a quilt-looking blanket.
We’re climbers, in love with the outdoors, so we knew every aspect had to happen in open air, no tent, nothing between us and the beautiful Big Sky. We cut out a long aisle and small square in a field of tall hay, behind the house, where the ceremony was to take place.
We love a DIY dessert bar around here.
They made almost 200 small stuffed felt hearts and put them on sticks as their centerpieces, around the cocktail tables, and strung them down the isle.
A favorite memory from the day:
Towards the end of our first dance, an incredible lightning storm started appearing all around us, the rain-less type of insane lightning you only see out in big sky country. A little bit after, it rained for about ten minutes, and then it HAILED for another ten minutes (nickel-sized soft hail, wow). It was absolutely beautiful and amazing. We moved the dance party inside the big garage, and watched the storm. After about twenty minutes the freak storm passed and we all came back outside and continued the dance party in the puddles. It was amazing. Dancing in the puddles with everyone I love has to be my favorite memory from the day.
