Sometimes you just don’t mess with a good thing… until it’s time. Like after 10 years of being together. By then it doesn’t matter that you’re a full time grad student working full time and you’re in the middle of buying your first home. That’s Kalindi + Ben for ya. The short version of their story at least. When their 10 year anniversary came around they thought, what better way to celebrate than by having a wedding with 50 of their friends and family. Nothing fancy, no wedding party, no pre-determined speeches or dances, just a relaxed and laid back celebration (with pretty flowers). Click here to jump on over to the full gallery of images.
That bouquet… wow. Since we know you wanna know, it was made up peonies, sweet pea, garden roses, spray roses, dusty miller, scabiosa and stock flowers.
Kalindi on the vibe of her wedding… I did not want a wedding color per say, instead I wanted a combination of soft and romantic flowers and simple crisp off white linens. I collected mismatched china months before the wedding at second hand stores, thrift, antique, and consignment shops and each plate was garnished with fresh lavender.
The decor and florals are so simple, but create such a sweet romantic vibe, don’t they?
As a life long vegetarian I wanted to give our guest a taste of what a really good vegetarian meal tasted like, from risotto cakes to black bean quinoa sliders, we hand selected each appetizer and entree, we also created several cocktails keeping in mind our spring and garden theme, lot’s of fresh fruits, flowers, and herbs.
It was hard at times not to get carried away since there is so much out there for weddings, but I didn’t want it to feel too gimmicky or too trendy, I wanted it to feel natural and effortlessly beautiful and most importantly, timeless. My favorite part of the wedding was the very last song, when we all embraced in a circle and danced together to “Home”. It was a really happy day for both of us and we are so thankful to everyone that made this day so special.
