If by chance you happen to look at the credits before reading this intro, you’ll find that Val + Bill didn’t use any wedding vendors, aside from their photographer, Rouxby. Nearly everything you see was either made by them, a friend, or a family member. That says a lot about how much love went into their woodland wedding because there are a lot of handmade details to love about it. That adorable little cabin is their family’s favorite vacation spot and actually played a huge part in their inspiration. Cozy, sentimental, and gleefully hillbilly. That’s how Val described that spot & their wedding.
The Father of the Bride, Groom & Father and brother of the groom transformed a pontoon boat parking space in the woods into a custom built 12 x 24 foot dance floor made out of pallets from Craigslist. They painted the whole thing white, and then painted the word “LOVE” on it. How awesome is that?!
With so much help from family & friends they were able to splurge on a few things they felt would make their wedding extra special. Their photographers, for one, and the music. They hired a bluegrass band to make dancing on their custom dance floor beneath twinkle lights in the forest even more magical. And lastly, as a gesture of thanks to their bridesmaids and friends for their special roles they’ve played in their lives, they rented two cabins for them to stay the weekend.
A few words of advice from Val… Do your wedding in whatever way best celebrates the love you share & the life you’re promising to share forever after. I’m overjoyed that we had a small wedding in a location that had special meaning for us. It was such a memorable celebration with an intimate feeling that Bill and I had dreamed of for our wedding day.
