We’re starting the week off with a super adorbs couple captured by Brooke Schultz Photography. Ayley + Adam never actually called their wedding a “wedding”. This was their “love party”. And with some major help from loved ones (because so many things went wrong the day of), they DIY’d just about everything, basing their decor, bites, and activities off things that have made them who they are today: graphic art, garden parties, storybooks, the movie Amelie, simple handmade projects, and teenage experiences. And can we just say how in love we are with Ayley’s handmade dress? It’s made from vintage tablecloths!
The cutest, isn’t she? Muse Clothing (on Etsy!), did a phenom job with her dress.
Guys, these are paper plates! Talk about a cute & budget-friendly DIY.
A bit of advice from Ayley: Roll with it! Remember that the day is about love: love between you and your husband, the love of your friends and family, love for everything you have put into making the day special. Once you realize that, nothing else matters! I’m fairly certain my hair fell out and my mascara was nearly off by the end of the night, but when you have so many people you love in one place and a brand spankin’ new husband by your side, why would any of those silly things even matter?
You guys all know how much we love a cute drink stirrer. These glitter heart ones are perfect for any upcoming Valentine’s Day weddings or parties, no?
How fun are these paper flowers made by Ayley’s mama?
There love story was too sweet that we just had to share. What made it best is that Adam wanted to tell his side of how they met.
It was early December in Washington, DC. I was just getting off work. It was pretty late in the evening and when I boarded the train, I noticed it was mainly empty, save but for one person: a girl… this perfect girl. I will never forget the first time I saw her. She was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen, and when she moved her bag off the seat next to her, I took that as a sign to go and talk to her. My head was swimming, and I spoke to her, dazed. She was charming and lovely. She told me she was making a short visit from Utah, where she was from, to DC to visit a few friends. For some reason she gave my rough-around-the-edges, dorky self her number, telling me maybe she would make time for dinner that weekend (I would later find out this was never going to happen, as I was, you know, a stranger on a train she had just met). I made it my mission to not let her forget how amazing I thought she was, and after hundreds of nightly phone calls and letters, I hopped a plane for the first time in my entire life that April and went to go see her in Utah, moving there permanently two years later. It’s been a beautiful life, and I don’t remember life without her. I mean… look at her!
Ayley + Adam, we absolutely loved your “love party”. Congratulations!
