Sooo, we may or may not have spent January thus far living vicariously through all the international weddings we’ve been posting. From South Africa to Portugal, and now to Yelapa, Mexico, it’s no wonder we have a case of wanderlust! Jeff & Ashley’s tropical, modern wedding took place at Hotel Verana, a boutique hotel in a fishing village just outside of Puerto Vallarta. Ashley says, Verana offers a personal journey to everyone who visits, and that is what we loved most. Each of our guests were able to create their own story, and whether they were hiking to a hidden waterfall, boating around the bay, jumping in plunge pools, or taking cooking classes on the property, it allowed a unique story for them to take home and cherish for years beyond our wedding.

Their best memory was the first look—everything after that seemed effortless.
Jeff & Ashley fell in love with Jillian Mitchell’s work on a few blogs, and finding out she was based near PV (though she travels) was a huge perk. Ashley tells it, We looked at hundreds of portfolios, and we noticed she consistently captured so many real, candid, unplanned, and gleeful moments with each wedding. There was not much thinking after that. She is beyond talented and shoots with film—how cool is that!?
Groom Jeff, of BC Graphics, created their invites + logo design which gave everything a special touch. Another meaningful DIY were the napkins sewn by Jeff’s grandmother who couldn’t be there because of the distance.
Ashley’s advice to brides-to-be: Rely on the guests and the joy of the day to make your wedding day special, not the cocktail napkins and the photo booth props (while very cute!)… People will most likely not remember which color your bridesmaids’ dresses were, but they will remember how they felt at your wedding. In effect, the overwhelming joy from your guests will leave you feeling like it was the best day, too.
