We’re noticing a shorter engagement trend as of late. Last Friday’s boho desert wedding was planned in 3 months, today’s was planned in 3, and later we have a two-day wedding done in 4. Less time to plan often actually means less time to stress, and Kendra and her guy pulled off their dream wedding this way with the help of planner/designer Madeline Hovey of Floral Detroit and a handful of dear friends. Thanks to Kendra’s brother + film photographer, Curtis Wiklund for the photos!
John is a Designer and Animator and Kendra is the decorations buyer at BHLDN (eee!). So as you can imagine, the two of them and their super talented designer friends worked on everything from the florals to the music (including John singing a few songs!) to the invitations. Oh, and a ton of pretty BHLDN bridal fashion, like the Peter Som number above.(More inspo behind their woodland theme here.)
Kendra found the white dress at a boutique and had her seamstress reconstruct it into this beauty!
Our venue had the perfect amount of lush trees and natural light, a charming barn with a loft overlooking the dance floor, and cozy little nooks to catch up with old friends over a cider mill donuts and hot chocolate. There’s nothing quite like an autumn outdoor wedding in Michigan, and we were so grateful to be able to use a friend’s back yard to celebrate.
A community pie table including a gluten-free lavender apple pie by their friend Katharine of Wednesday Amelia.
And some srsly good advice: Save your money for the Honeymoon! The wedding day is an exciting day but you will never forget the sweetest moments you have with your husband on your honeymoon. I am so glad we were frugal with our wedding so we could enjoy a beautiful honeymoon in Napa Valley and Big Sur.
Congratulations, K + J!
