C + K’s Venice wedding could easily have been in Big Sur or Canada or Hawaii. They searched high and low for the perfect venue, but it finally hit them that for their big day they didn’t need to leave town at all.
Cayley says, We don’t like commercial, we didn’t have an unlimited budget, we didn’t want to wait two years to hold our wedding; we wanted a memorable but casual wedding that friends and family could really enjoy. Probably somewhere between riding our bikes to the beach and walking to dinner at one of our neighborhood restaurants it dawned on us—why not bring our friends and family to Venice to celebrate at the place we love and call home? We wanted to show everyone our version of Venice—local, casual, weird—so that’s exactly what we did. The ceremony held at our longtime neighbor Philip Dixon’s house surprised all our guests who could not have dreamt up a more impressive hidden oasis, which also inspired the colors of my bridesmaids’ dresses.
Thanks to Gary Ashley of The Wedding Artists Collective for these shots!
Every gal should own a pair of Stuart Weitzman pretties, don’t you think?
Cayley says, We had a local gospel choir sing Dream Lover for Kyle’s walk down the aisle with his parents and our bridal party procession, and My Cherie Amuor when I walked down the aisle with my Dad. Our first dance we danced to Harvest Moon sung by one of my ridiculously talented bridesmaids, Lucy Keating, accompanied by the Mattson 2. Once we were married we exited to Hall & Oates You Make My Dreams Come True.
Loving these blues.
They held the reception close by at 800Main with dinner catered by a fave restaurant Casa Ado (chef Antonio Mure happens to be their neighbor too) and desserts by Superba Food + Bread.
Check out the recap by Max and Molly Films below:
In the end, we feel so lucky to have involved so much of our community in our wedding weekend—even our photographer, Gary Ashley, was based in Venice. So all local vendors, friends, and friends of friends made it a very special weekend to share with our families.
Cheers you two! See more from this wedding in our gallery.
