S + C’s Frank Sinatra Estate wedding was years in the making. When Sarah was 10 years old, her mom went on a Palm Springs house tour and came home declaring that it would be her daughter’s future wedding venue. Fast forward to planning I Do with Craig, and he was totally on board—even though they had yet to actually visit PS! With lots of family coordination and a little bit of luck (you’ll see how they snagged Fondly Forever Photography + vendors soon), their retro oasis was born.
Who better than Craig (who is a Creative Director IRL) to execute all the DIY projects? He designed the save the dates, invites, fans, table numbers, and place settings.
How they found their wedding crew… While visiting Palm Springs to scope venues, hotels and vendors we sat next to a couple celebrating their 1-year anniversary at the pool. We started chatting and it turned out their wedding had been featured on 100 layer cake and I had already pinned the heck out of her big day. I immediately booked a majority of her vendors, including her photographer.
…We mentioned there were synchronized swimmers, no? Naturally!
On planning: My parents were extremely involved and I knew from the beginning that could cause conflict. So, very early on we sat down and every person got to share his or her “Must Haves” for the day. It was very interesting that most of our “must haves” were common. At this dinner, everything was put on the table and no ideas were bad. We also divy’d responsibilities based on interest. My mom was super into the venue and food, she became responsible for overseeing those aspects. My dad cared about the music, so he found the musical entertainment for the night. I cared about the flowers and photographer, so I managed that. Craig being a designer cared about the overall ambiance and he totally delivered on that. It was also important for me to remember this day wasn’t only my special day, it was also my fiancée’s special day, my parents special day and my in-laws special day. We were all celebrating the joyous occasion.
Best wishes to the bride + groom!
