A fun thing to learn about Kelly + Tony was that they didn’t want anything to feel too polished in their fall wedding, they knew that didn’t fall in line with their laidback personalities. Plus, the groom wasn’t a huge fan of having anything be over-the-top pink. (Understandable, it’s his day too!) The result? Pretty and natural with that warm, light feeling is so good at Danielle Poff Photography capturing.
The stationery took them longest to decide on, and Tracy of Gubba Gumma helped them incorporate watercolors and sunset tones without getting carried away with a feminine vibe. (See more of their design inspo on Pinterest.)
We loved the barn, the laid back staff, and the vines behind the property. We have somehow become a little snobby about wine in the past few years and it was great that Soda Rock and the other wineries in the Wilson group have such great wine and a lot of variety. We wanted to have a space we could move around in for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and the reception and liked that there were sliding doors that opened behind our head table to the vineyard in the back, and that the main room was large enough to accommodate a band, a stage for dancing, and a dinner space.
How darling are these gals?
The DIY list for their wedding of 150:
· Chalkboards (the bridesmaids wrote the signage)
· Escort cards + table numbers by the bride + groom with handwriting by bridesmaid, Melinda
· Vintage glass bottles collected from flea markets over the last yer
· Tony’s father made the arch out of wild Birch in Oregon + birch stumps to make table number holders
· Tony sewed waxed canvas and leather tobacco pipes for the groomsmen
They played Jose Gonzales’ Heartbeats down the aisle + an acoustic version of Sam Smith’s Latch covered by a bridesmaid + Kelly’s dad for their first dance. Sweet!
Parting words from Kelly… We loved having our close friend, Johannes officiate our wedding. He wrote the entire ceremony and only gave us an outline of what to expect. It was nice to experience his words with all of our guests for the first time. We also had our friend Nadir emcee our reception, my dad and bridesmaid Laura sing our first dance, and Tony’s dad Chris build our arch. Including friends and family in your wedding day may make things a little more complicated, but these personal touches made our day extra special. We suggest it!
Cheers!
