Cool deets about L + N’s rooftop wedding: 1) Laurel crafted + coordinated the whole day herself with the help of fam and friends. 2) Knowing how expensive NYC weddings are, they found their Brooklyn venue (now ESH) by seeking out unconventional spots to get married in the city. (Good tip, right?) 3) They hooked up with photog Lauren Rae Photography after making a proposal right here on 100LC for wedding photographers within their budget. Love! Now, onto the photos…
That backdrop? A major DIY! Laurel tore fabric into strips and strung them along a rope, then Bricolage Curated Florals accented it with a garland. Perfect for flowing behind her BHLDN gown, if you ask us!
Laurel tells it, I wanted a light, airy feel to the day, since we were going to be married on a rooftop. I wanted lots of white, greens and shades of blush cream, and champagne to accent, so we chose decor and wedding party style to fit. We wanted a modern meets vintage vibe, which suits our personal styles as well as the location in Brooklyn quite well. The restaurant is in Williamsburg, which is a very hip neighborhood with lots of great restaurants, vintage shops, and up-and-coming designers and artists. We wanted to not only reflect our own personal style but give our guests a taste of what we love so much about Brooklyn!
The floral recipe for the bridal bouquet + table arrangements: Cafe Au’ Lait dahlia, Juliet garden rose, Majolika spray rose, foxglove, oak leaf hydrangea, Icelandic poppies, hellebores, ranunculus, + Darcy garden roses.
All food was done by The Gorbals’ (now ESH) chef Ilan Hall, who is a Top Chef winner and curated an all vegetarian and vegan menu for us! Our menu included a celeriac shawarma (a nod to NYC street food), a barley steak served with escalivada, grilled veggie skewers, and cucumber avocado salad with crispy garbanzos. Our goal was to show everyone that vegetarian and vegan food is delicious and filling! And their signature cocktails were…
The Laurel (Lavender French 75): gin, lavender, gentian, lemon, prosecco
The Nate (Oaxaca Old Fashioned): bourbon, ginger-infused mezcal, bitters, agave
So fun!
Congratulations!
