Ready for the lowdown on S + J’s wedding weekend? It started with Friday night welcome drinks (spicy grapefruit margs to be exact) and a campfire hangout. Saturday was spent with guests playing every camp game imaginable before gathering at the lake for a traditional Jewish ceremony. Then there were cocktails at the boathouse and a magical tent reception. And a sparkler sendoff. And another bonfire. Um, how fun does all that sound? Thanks to Michelle Boyd Photography for sending this one our way!
They had their hearts set on adding a little glamour to the camp vibe, so they enlisted Emily of MStarr Event Design + Krissy of Pollen Floral Design to work their magic on the design + florals.
Cutest ever!
Sari tells it, I went to sleep-away camp for 9 summers and made some of my best memories. The smells, the friendships, and the s’mores have stuck with me well into adulthood. Early on I had the idea of renting a camp for our wedding to bring all of our friends and family together. When I mentioned it to Josh, he loved the idea (almost) as much as I did. Once we were sold on a summer camp wedding, everything else paled in comparison. After visiting barns, resorts, and my childhood summer camp we stumbled upon Club Getaway and instantly knew it was where we would say I Do.
They made the table numbers + escort cards, and Josh (he’s a graphic designer), designed the menus, program, and welcome envelopes. Love the arrows!
Behind that amaze cake by One Girl Cookies? 8 single-layer cakes in various flavors like chocolate + mocha, vanilla + raspberry, red velvet, etc. etc. Yuuum.
My advice to brides planning their weddings would be to come up with what is important to you and your fiancé and to stick with it. We had a lot of naysayers early on who thought a camp wedding was a bad idea. They said guests wouldn’t want to stay in bunks, participate in color war, be away for a whole weekend, the list goes on. In the end, our guests have told us it was the best wedding they have ever been to and they want to do it all over again (so do we!). In the end, we followed our hearts and our wedding was a true reflection of us because of it.
Congratulations Sari and Josh!
