A little background behind these lovely wedding photos by Jake & Necia: Myles + Kristen had been together for 7 years when he proposed in Paris (major points!), which led to a Halloween costume engagement party followed by lots of planning. Their biggest priority was staying true to themselves and showing guests a good time, but when that means surprise letters, DIY projects, and a great playlist? No question!
How gorg do these gals look in Sarah Seven + Reformation? They made a point to support amazing independent brands for their day.
Kristen tells it, The wedding planning process was a bit of a whirlwind of decisions and I felt a little out of my realm considering we didn’t want a lot of the traditional wedding features. We wanted an intimate, honest and real ceremony (no frills), so Myles and I wrote the entire thing. It was one of my favorite parts of the day, with the beautiful view of the hills as our backdrop and our loved ones behind us. My cousin was our officiant, and Myles and I wrote personal letters to each other, which we kept as surprise for each other until we read them aloud in front of everyone.
Wedding Music:
Wedding party processional: Angel by Jack Johnson
Bride processional: Forever by Ben Harper
Recessional/Post Ceremony: Is this Love by Bob Marley & the Wailers
First dance: Love & Happiness by Al Green
A few major DIYs included handpainted + gold foiled succulent pots for the centerpieces, shibori table runners, wooden “California” that guests signed, beer brewed by the bride’s brother, dance floor, and a bucket list suggestion station for guests to add to. So fun, right?
Parting words, c/o our bride… I feel so lucky that we have so many close friends and family who were there to support us on our wedding; the people were the most important piece of our day hands down. My favorite moments were the personal letters at our ceremony, the amazing heartfelt speeches at dinner from the MOH, Best Man and Father of the Bride, and the hilarious surprise when two friends performed a personalized rap for us to Gangster’s Paradise. It was the best day of our lives and we wouldn’t change a thing!
Cheers!
